Nicky Phillips is an established singer and songwriter based in Cheshire. Singing from a young age, Nicky started performing at school and continued with this to study both classical and popular vocal studies at degree level. She now performs intimate stripped-back covers as well as regularly gigging with her original music - mostly on her acoustic guitar, but sometimes on her portable piano. Nicky has performed at prestigious venues in London, such as the Southbank Centre, The Troubadour and The Bedford. In the North, Nicky has performed at Matt & Phred's, Night & Day Café and The Salty Dog (Northwich), to name a few. Along with performing around the UK, she has also had the opportunity to perform at a wedding in the Czech Republic and on stage in far away locations like Austin, Texas and Niamey, Niger. Nicky has also performed at many outdoor events, such as Knutsford Music Festival and Alderford Lake. Nicky brings her own style and sensitivity when performing covers which makes her music perfect for weddings, events and bars; it is suitable for both entertaining guests or for quieter background music. Nicky is always willing to work on new song requests (with notice), she has previously re-imagined a TV theme tune for a couple's first dance. Nicky primarily performs on acoustic guitar, but can provide piano covers as well, upon request.

I booked Nicky for our garden party on 21st August. The weather was challenging with high winds, but Nicky played and sang two sets for us beautifully. She has a lovely voice and clear diction. Our audience of third age very much appreciated her performance

Nicky was informative and accommodating in the lead up to the birthday gathering. On the night Nicky's set went down a storm and many of the guests commented as to how good Nicky was and they enjoyed the mix of songs. I would look to book Nicky again in the future.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

My clients often comment on the clarity of my voice and the way that I perform covers in my own way. They also love how I make sure the performance works for them and their vision of the event.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed at many venues of the years, but some recent ones include: Wrenbury Hall, Nantwich Hodsock Priory, Worksop The Wellbeing Farm, Edgworth The Bedford, London Matt and Phred's, Manchester The Fitzgerald, Manchester

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Paul Simon, Laura Marling, Bon Iver and Joni Mitchell.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

In late 2022 I had the pleasure of performing a headline show at CCFN Jean Rouch in Niamey, Niger in association with the British Embassy Niamey and Ambassade de France au Niger. In the past, I have been lucky enough to perform at The Southbank Centre in London and further in the past was lucky enough to open for Kate Nash in Camden, London.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I'm always happy to be flexible and discuss what works best for you . If timings change slightly in the run up to the event, please just let me know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can provide free music via my PA system during set breaks, upon request. Music prior to my sets will be subject to discussion and a possible additional fee.

How much time do you need to set up?

It takes me between 15-30 minutes to set up, depending on the space. It's always best to allow for 30 minutes and I'm always happy to discuss setting up earlier to avoid disrupting other activities.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

100%! You can send over a list of pieces from my set list to create your own bespoke set list. Alternatively, you can always pick out 'must play' songs and 'please don't play' songs - we all have different tastes!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes! I bring my own PA system and cables, all I need is a power socket (preferably a double one). I bring my own instrument/s.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Absolutely! I am happy to learn up to 2 songs, as long as I am given enough notice (subject to style/suitability to my voice). If songs are requested at short notice or further songs are requested, there may be a fee to take into account rehearsal time, etc. For special events, I am happy to record and send my version of your request, for your approval.
