Nicholas Tall is entering his second year as an Undergraduate at the Royal Academy of Music. At the Academy, he studies Organ with Bine Bryndorf and Conducting with Patrick Russill. In addition to this, Nicholas is also Organ Scholar at St Mary’s, Bourne Street where he works alongside Paul Brough (Director of Music) and Richard Hills (Organist) in learning the business of Catholic church music within the mass, with particular attention to the accompanying of plainchant.
Before beginning his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Nicholas was a student at Wells Cathedral School and, from 2016 until 2018, was also Junior Organ Scholar at Wells Cathedral. In 2017, he took up the position of Organist & Choirmaster of the United Parish of East Harptree where he worked with the choir to develop music in the liturgy. Additionally, he began a successful concert series that culminated, in July 2018, with the inaugural Harptree Music Festival, of which he is Artistic Director.
Nicholas has performed widely in the UK and abroad including Wells Cathedral; St John’s, King’s and Trinity Colleges, Cambridge; New and Merton Colleges and Christchurch Cathedral, Oxford; St Clement Danes, The Strand, London; Stefanskerk, Hardenberg, The Netherlands. He has also worked with several eminent conductors including Stephen Cleobury, Andrew Nethsingha, Simon Toyne and Ralph Allwood.
Nicholas has been appointed the Assistant Director of Music at St Mark’s Church, Hamilton Terrace and will take up the position in September. He is also the recipient of the Royal Academy of Music’s Gwen & Eric Windo Organ Award and the Eric Thiman Organ Prize
