Mock Rockin' Beats formed in 2017 after the string players and guitarist from local alt-folk band, Nou Enle, decided that they wanted to form a functions band. Gerard (lead vocals and Guitar) was heavily involved in the Romo scene of the 1990s, being part of the band Dex Dexter, who were discovered by Pulp's Jarvis Cocker. He has been in many different covers and originals bands over the years. Samantha (Bass) and Chris (Lead Guitar) share a background in classical music, both being professional string players in their own right. Raul is a seasoned professional percussionist, and always embraces a challenge. In his native city of Bogotá, he has performed in different classical music orchestras and ensembles, and played the drum kit and percussion in several Blues, Rock, Jazz , folk and traditional music bands. We play music in any style that works for our line-up, with examples ranging from David Bowie and Stealers Wheel, to Catfish & the Bottlemen and Blossoms. We are happy to take requests, as this helps us to grow our setlist, and keeps things fresh. Our current setlist spans over 3 hours, and is always growing.

Chris and Sam performed with Mock Rockin' Beats at our last street party, they were fantastic! The crowd loved them. Everyone was up and dancing playing songs to please all . Hope they will come and perform for us at our next street party! Highly recommend 😁

Customer questions

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes, Gerard, our vocalist, is a founder member of Mock Rockin' Beats, and isn't going anywhere! If Gerard is unable to perform, we are able to provide a female singer who could fill in.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, we can offer a violin, viola and guitar classical instrumental for quiet events, or for wedding ceremonies that we are playing the full band at.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just let us know, we will do all we can to accommodate you (changes in fee will of course apply)..

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We can do this, or can provide a cable for your own device to connect to out PA system.

How much time do you need to set up?

We can usually set up in under an hour.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes. Our list on this site may not be complete, at the time you book us, so please ask, if you don't see what you want.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We include a PA system that is large enough for small to mid sized venues (it is pretty loud), but can arrange for larger equipment for and extra fee.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We welcome requests, but would suggest a 5 song limit (unless we already play the songs). Please bear in mind that, although we are a versatile covers band, our style is quite heavy, and usually guitar based, so songs may sound a little different to recorded tracks that are not usually played by these instruments.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our clients love our upbeat song choices, and lively stage play. We usually leave the dance floor bouncing!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed at a football stadium, bars, pubs street parties and at private venues.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We all have different musical tastes in the band, ranging form Britpop and folk, to Classical and Metal. Influences would be named as Bowie; The Killers; Oasis; The Arctic Monkeys; Duran Duran.
