About Mihkel

Professional accordionist on a mission to bring the accordion back in style: jazz/folk and classical!
Accordionist
London
Public liability insurance of ££10,000,000 million

Hi, I’m Mihkel! I am a professional accordionist from Estonia, now based in London. The feedback I hear most often is: “Wow, I didn’t know you could play that on an accordion!”- and that’s exactly what I aim for. My mission is to show that the accordion isn’t just an old campfire instrument; it can be exciting, surprising, and full of new possibilities. I thrive on creating unique musical experiences. Whether you want me to choose the repertoire and surprise your audience, or consult with you to make the accordion sound exactly how you imagine it, I’m here to make it happen. I love arranging and learning new songs to fit every occasion, from Oktoberfest events to hen dos, private functions, and film music. Having studied accordion since age 7, earned a degree in jazz, and completed numerous advanced courses, I bring both skill and creativity to every performance. I’ve also won awards like the Round Table Competition and the Uno Naissoo Music Interpretation Competition, and received several scholarships. I recently returned to the UK and am excited to bring fresh accordion experiences to new audiences. Thank you for your trust!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients often tell me they’re amazed by the versatility of the accordion- many say, "I didn’t know you could play that on an accordion!" They love that my performances bring something unique, fresh, and memorable to their event. I'd say I'm also very reliable in terms of timings, so I am always told it's very easy to work with me.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

From churches to pubs to world class music venues and small gatherings from birthdays to hen dos.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Musically, I’ve been deeply inspired by Pat Metheny, and my favorite accordionist is Vincent Peirani (highly recommend checking him out!). Of course, there are countless other artists who have shaped my playing

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Probably my performances at various embassies and private members’ clubs.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I’ll always do my best to accommodate any changes. The earlier I’m informed, the easier it is to adjust, but unless I’m already committed elsewhere, I’ll make every effort to ensure your event runs smoothly.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I don’t offer DJ services, but I do have experience in audio branding and playlist curation. If needed, I’d be happy to put together a tailored playlist for your event to play before and between my sets.

How much time do you need to set up?

For an acoustic performance I’m ready within about 10 minutes- it’s as simple as taking the accordion out of its case. For a performance with microphones/PA, I’ll need at least 30 minutes to set up and soundcheck properly.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

The set list is mainly a sample to show the range of styles I play, but of course you’re welcome to choose any pieces you’d like me to perform.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

For acoustic performances, I bring everything I need (though for longer events or background sets, a chair is helpful). For amplified performances, I provide my own microphones, but I’ll need a PA system to be supplied at the venue.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Absolutely! If it’s just a couple of songs, I’m happy to learn them at no extra cost. For a full custom setlist, I may need to adjust the fee to cover the extra preparation time. Just let me know your ideas, and we’ll work out the best way to make it happen.
