Duo Chiaroscuro

Chiaroscuro are Spanish/Swiss violinist Violeta Vicci and Cuban/British guitarist Ahmed Dickinson, a contemporary classical violin and guitar duo with many years of experience performing Spanish and Latin folklore. Both Royal College of Music graduates, Vicci and Dickinson met as ambassadors for the Concordia Foundation, and have both since established successful solo careers and released a number of acclaimed recordings. A sophisticated virtuoso on his instrument and an ambassador of Cuban culture, Ahmed Dickinson’s transcriptions of Jose Antonio Riojas’ unpublished works was nominated for Best Album & Best Single at the Latin American Music Awards UK and Songlines Magazine wrote "You are left with the sensation of being touched to the core by exquisitely played pieces". Vicci’s solo violin, viola and voice album Mirror Images was hailed by the Strad Magazine as ‘a remarkable concept album by a unique and imaginative solo performer” and put forward for a Royal Philharmonic Award in 2021. Her compositions, praised as ‘beautiful and powerful’ on BBC Radio3, have received extensive radio play worldwide. Vicci and Dickinson have performed at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and the Philharmonie de Paris and toured the UK, Spain, Malta, Azerbaijan, England, Scotland, Ireland, France and Switzerland.
