Manchester Cello & Guitar Wedding Duo brings together the timeless elegance of cello and the warmth of acoustic guitar to create beautifully crafted live music for weddings, corporate events and special occasions. What makes the duo especially unique is not just their sound, but their connection. As mother and son, Claire and Jonny bring a natural musical chemistry built on years of shared experience, trust and understanding, something that shines through in every performance. Their repertoire blends popular music classics and bespoke arrangements, allowing them to create the perfect atmosphere for everything from intimate wedding ceremonies to lively drinks receptions and sophisticated corporate events. Whether performing a couple’s chosen aisle song or providing elegant background music for guests to enjoy, their focus is always on creating memorable moments through live music. Claire trained at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has enjoyed a varied professional career spanning solo recitals, orchestral freelancing and international performance work. Her early career included performing with London orchestras, recording sessions at Abbey Road Studios, and travelling the world performing in concert halls and onboard cruise productions. Alongside concert work, Claire has built extensive experience performing at weddings and private events, from string quartets in Covent Garden to luxury venues on Park Lane, and more recently at some of the North West’s most beautiful venues including Arley Hall, Hoghton Tower and Mottram Hall. Alongside performing, she continues to freelance and teach across the North West. Jonny studied at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he honed his craft as a guitarist, songwriter and performer. One of the standout moments of his training was a songwriting tutorial with Paul McCartney himself. Since graduating, he has performed extensively across the UK and Europe, supporting acts such as The Libertines, Feeder and The Rifles at major venues including Alexandra Palace, O2 Academy Brixton and Manchester Academy. His recording work has included collaborations with producers Ken Nelson and Rich Turvey, with music featured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music. Together, Claire and Jonny combine classical training, contemporary creativity and years of live performance experience to offer something truly personal. Their performances are tailored to each event and delivered with warmth, professionalism and heart. Their aim is simple, to create unforgettable moments and the perfect soundtrack for life’s most important occasions.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients often tell us they love the warmth and elegance of the cello and guitar combination, as well as the personal touch we bring to each event. Our ability to create bespoke arrangements and provide a relaxed, professional experience helps make every performance feel special and memorable.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We’ve performed at a wide range of venues across the UK, including Arley Hall, Hoghton Tower and Mottram Hall, as well as luxury London hotels and venues in Covent Garden. We have also played at many private events, weddings and corporate functions.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Our influences come from both classical and contemporary music. Claire draws inspiration from the great cello repertoire and classical performance tradition, while Jonny’s influences span artists such as The Beatles, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and B.B. King. Together, this blend helps shape our unique sound and arrangements.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Between us, we’ve performed in world-class concert halls, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, toured internationally, and played major UK venues including Alexandra Palace and O2 Academy Brixton. Jonny has also supported acts including The Libertines and Feeder.

Do you have different line-up options?

While our main offering is as a cello and guitar duo, we also offer solo performance options depending on the style and atmosphere you’re looking for. These include solo acoustic guitar or solo cello accompanied by professionally arranged backing tracks.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We understand that wedding and event timings can change as plans come together. If your schedule changes, just let us know as soon as possible and we will always do our best to accommodate the new timings. As long as the overall booking duration remains the same, small changes can usually be adjusted with no problem.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. We offer this service free of charge. We can provide background music through our sound system before and between our live sets, helping maintain the atmosphere and keep the music flowing throughout your event. We can tailor the playlist to suit the style and mood of your day.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually require around 45 minutes to 1 hour to set up and soundcheck before the performance. This allows plenty of time to get everything in place and ensure the sound is balanced perfectly for your ceremony or event. For solo performances, setup time may be slightly shorter. We always aim to be fully set up and ready well before guests arrive.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We usually perform from a fixed setup to ensure the best sound quality, particularly where amplification is involved. However, we are happy to relocate between sets if your event moves to a different area of the venue, such as from the ceremony to the drinks reception.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, absolutely. You are welcome to choose your favourite songs from our repertoire to help create the perfect soundtrack for your day. We are also happy to offer guidance and suggestions based on the atmosphere and moments you would like to create.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes. All quotes include our professional sound equipment and amplification where required, so everything needed for the performance is taken care of. We provide a full setup suitable for ceremonies, drinks receptions and events, with no hidden extras.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes. All of our packages include one complimentary bespoke song request if it is not already in our repertoire. We can also arrange additional song requests for an extra fee, subject to suitability and enough notice before the event.
