The MPR Jazz Ensemble has a wealth of experience playing at high profile events across the country. They have appeared on ITV’s “This Morning” show with Philip Schofield and Fern Britten and have also performed as the backing band to the ‘06 “X Factor” runner up, Ray Quinn. In April ‘08 the band was featured in “The Times” and “The Sun” Newspapers after performing for Rupert Murdoch. They have appeared at events along side personalities such as Sebastian Coe, Anthony Worrall Thompson, Duncan Bannatyne, Vince Cable, Barry Cryer and the Jonathan Ross show’s Four Puffs and a Piano. They have also appeared at venues such as The Grosvenor House, Hilton Hotel, Lancaster London Hotel and The Four Seasons hotel London, The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and the NEC Birmingham, The Crown Plaza Manchester and the Royal Berkshire Hotel Surrey, to name just a few. They have also made countless appearances at stately homes and country house hotels, for occasions such as corporate events, weddings, parties and birthday celebrations etc, as well as being engaged by the British Military on many events throughout the year. The MPR Jazz Ensemble is happy to be completely flexible with regard to the ensemble line up, dress code, special requests, set and playing times etc in order to meet the requirements of the client exactly, to ensure that the event is a complete success and enjoyed by all. The MPR Jazz Ensemble is made up of hand picked professional musicians and led by Mathew Richardson Bmus (Hons) who is a former scholarship student of the Royal Academy of Music London. Away from the ensemble Mathew along with the other members enjoy vast success as freelance musicians working at home and abroad on television, radio, on commercially available recordings and in some of the country’s finest concert venues. The MPR Jazz Ensemble can be employed in the following standard line ups: - (Bespoke tailor made line ups are available on request i.e. solo, duo etc.) Trio = (Piano, Bass, Drums) or (Bass, Piano, Sax) This size of ensemble is perfect to provide music at a background level, which is clearly audible, however does not interfere with the lively conversations taking place between family and friends or colleagues. The musicians have honed their skills over many years of playing corporate, wedding and military events, where the ability to play low level swinging music is essential. The MPR Jazz Trio creates a relaxed and classy atmosphere which greatly enhances the enjoyment of any meal or drinks reception. Alternative Trio line ups are available on request. Quartet = (Sax, Bass, Piano, Drums) or (Vocal, Piano, Bass, Drums) This is one of the most versatile sizes of ensemble! Still perfectly at home playing at background level as described in the Trio section, but with the addition of the saxophone or vocalist, the quartet has the ability to perform a fully blown Jazz gig to any size of audience. Playing a set of Jazz Standards fused if necessary with Funk, Soul and Blues tunes just for good measure. This ensemble is perfect not only for functions such as corporate, wedding, birthday and military but also as the main evening’s entertainment at any jazz club, restaurant, venue or bar, providing a full concert for all music lovers. A range of P.A. sizes are available on request to cater for any size of event. Alternative Quartet line ups are available on request. Quintet = (Vocal, Sax, Piano, Bass, Drums) With the addition of the vocals to the quartet, The MPR Jazz Quintet is able to play all of the famous Swing Standards from Sinatra to Ella Fitzgerald and very much more. Now that Robbie Williams has re-popularised the ‘Rat Pack’ repertoire with his number one hit “Have You Met Miss Jones” this is the perfect time and ensemble to entertain any audience in that style, through to more modern ballads and bossa novas from the likes of Nora Jones and Diana Krall. Great for functions such as corporate, wedding, birthday and military but also as the main evening’s entertainment at any jazz club, restaurant, venue or bar, providing a full concert for all music lovers. A range of P.A. sizes are available on request to cater for any size of event. Alternative Quintet line ups are available on request. Dress Code The band will always dress very smartly as standard normally in either a suit and tie for afternoon engagements or tuxedo for evening engagements, unless of course a more casual look is required. PA Options The standard backline amplification and vocal PA for line up's including the vocalist is ideal for events performing up to 150 people or so in the average sized function rooms you find in hotels and venues up and down the country, allowing competitive prices and excellent value for money. For larger weddings and corporate / military events, they can provide a top of the range 4k watt PA system with engineer which is suitable to perform to a room of anything up to 500 guests. Larger systems are available on request to cater for any size of event. Working with Sound Limiters The band is regularly booked to play at events where the venue has some restrictions placed on the amount of volume which is allowed during the performance. Usually there is a decibel meter fitted in the room which is connected to the power supply that the band is asked to use. This is absolutely no problem for the band to work with. Mat and the MPR Ensemble were brilliant. They played 2 great sets of swing numbers at our 60th birthday party, songs you could dance to. We really enjoyed having the full 5 piece band especially with Sax and vocals who were great. Definitely recommend.

Hello from sunny Crete! Thank you so much for Saturday. Apologies we didn’t have much time to speak to you guys but we loved the music! I really thought it set the perfect mood for the day. I wonder if you guys enjoyed little 12 year old Emily’s surprise cello interlude? Hahaha! It was a surprise for us too! Thanks again for everything and we wish you guys all the best :) Kind regards Qiang and Simon

An example of “The MPR Jazz Ensemble” Song list is below.
A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square
All blues
All of me
All the things you are
Angel eyes
Autumn leaves
Bewitched
Beautiful love
Black Orpheus
Blue bossa
Body and soul
Bye bye blackbird
Can’t get started
Cheek to cheek
Come fly with me
Desifanado
Don’t get around much anymore
Don’t worry about me
Drop me off in Harlem
Everything happens to me
Embraceable you
Exactly like you
Fly me to the moon
Foggy day
Gee baby ain’t I good to you
Georgia on my mind
Girl from impanima
Have you met Miss Jones
I got rhythm
I love you
I remember you
In a sentimental mood
It had to be you
I've never been in love before
Let there be love
Let’s fall in love
Like someone in love
Lover Man
Lullaby of Birdland
Misty
Moondance
My funny valentine
Night and day
On green dolphin street
One note samba
Our love is here to stay
So what
Softly as a morning sunrise
Someday my prince will come
Song for my farther
Stella by starlight
St. Thomas
Stormy Monday
Summertime
Takin' a chance on love
Take the A train
Take 5
Unforgettable
What is this thing called love
What’s new
You made me love you
You make me feel so young
And many more………….......
