Luke is an enthusiastic, exuberant, and personable 22-year-old music graduate undergoing a performance masters in percussion at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Picking up a pair of sticks at the age of just 3 years old, Luke received a practical music education with Jayne Obradovic at Wells Cathedral School, before receiving an unconditional offer to study Music at the University of Birmingham where he graduated in 2018 with a 1st class degree, prior to his move to London for a masters course at the Guildhall. Luke has studied and worked alongside some of the UK's most well respected world/orchestral percussionists and drum kit specialists, notably the team at the CBSO, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, LPO, and LSO, working with figures such as Andrew Herbert, Adrian Spillett, Matt Hardy, Kevin Hathway, David Corkhill, Matt Skelton, Zands Duggan, and recently Mike Lovatt of the John Wilson Orchestra, amongst a host of other inspirational leaders. His abilities as an all-rounder, dabbling in percussive studies from a broad range of traditions and conventions, has enabled frequent performance at internationally celebrated venues including the Barbican Hall, St John Smith’s Square, Festival Hall, Colston Hall, The Bristol Hippodrome, and Symphony Hall (Birmingham), to name a few, as well as performances at major UK events and festivals including the London 2012 Olympics and Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2018. Luke has also received regular BBC radio air time, from new music performances (recently the BBC Total Immersion Ligeti celebration, Barbican 2019), to features with his very own fusion-pop project, Argle Bargle, as well as work as events coordinator with his thriving function band, Charlie and the Funk Factory, performing at weddings and events across the UK and abroad. Luke has been teaching and gigging for over a decade and is an exciting upcoming multi-instrumentalist.

Luke is an excellent and versatile musician, able to adapt his playing to suit any ensemble or genre. With a strong sense of groove he can lead a band from the kit. A top professional, he is always punctual and well prepared.
