Lucy Roberts

Currently studying Music at Jesus College, Cambridge University, I am comfortable with all genres of music. I have played cello for 15 years, specialising in orchestral playing, the highlights of which included leading the cello section of the London Schools Symphony Orchestra from 2015-16 in venues including the Barbican and Royal Festival Hall. Recently, I have covered repertoire including Brahms' Fourth Symphony, a new completion of Mahler's 10th Symphony, and also played in pit bands for shows including The Producers and the newly written Footlights Pantomime 2018. I have played double bass for several years now, specialising in orchestral and jazz settings, and mainly focus on this instrument now at university. Recent highlights include leading the Cambridge University Sinfonietta double bass section in Brahms' Second Symphony and Prokofiev's Third Piano Concerto, and playing in a gig set-up for a newly devised late show at the ADC theatre. On the bass guitar, I specialise in pit band settings, and utilise my good sight-reading skills to play notated parts in shows and gigs. I am comfortable reading in all styles, from chord sheets to prescribed walking bass lines.
