Lucy McPhee

Lucy writes contemporary classical, modal music using ciphers and infinity series’. She has recently completed her PhD in music composition at Cardiff University where her research looked at the representation of women and female figures. Lucy is currently writing for Tredegar Band as part of the Vale of Glamorgan’s new composers scheme. Her orchestral piece Ternion was chosen for BBC NOW Composition Wales 2021, Ternion was recently featured on BBC Radio 3’s New Music Show. She has previously worked with Psappha and Ty Cerdd, together with individuals such as Fenella Humphreys, Kyle Lutes and the Vickers Bovey duo. Lucy is currently interested in writing music for couple's big day and exploring and writing music to raise awareness of female health and social issues, as well as how contemporary classical music could be more accessible to the D/deaf community.
