Laura Rushforth

Laura began her musical training at the age of 7 as a chorister at Chester Cathedral. She went on to study German and Italian at the University of Manchester, where she sang with the university chamber choir Ad Solem, ensembles such as Kantos Chamber Choir and Manchester Chamber Choir, and as a deputy lay clerk at Manchester Cathedral and Chester Cathedral. She has been a young artist at the Southwell Music Festival, and in 2019 played Ms Pescado in the stage premiere of Judith Weir’s Opera, Armida. Since graduating she has balanced a full time teaching career with a freelance singing career, of which highlights include participating in the prestigious Genesis Sixteen training scheme and holding a lay clerkship at Manchester Oratory. She also works as a soloist, and has appeared with Cantores Olicanae, Stafford Choral Society and Wigan Choral Society. Laura regularly performs for Weddings, Funerals and other private events, both as a soloist and part of a group.
