La Dolce Vita

La Dolce Vita brings the timeless glamour of Italy to life through the classic songs of the 1950s and ’60s — music that transports you to the world of Fellini films, Vespa scooters, bustling piazzas and long summer evenings spent over an aperitivo. Formed by some of London’s finest Italian musicians through a shared love of the music they grew up with, La Dolce Vita performs a stylish repertoire of much-loved Italian classics alongside jazz, bossa nova and international favourites. From the romance of Volare and Quando, Quando, Quando to the effortlessly cool sounds of mid-century Italy, the band creates an atmosphere that is elegant, warm and unmistakably Italian. At the heart of La Dolce Vita is Italian vocalist Irene Serra, whose sophisticated vocal style and natural stage presence are perfectly suited to this repertoire. Born in Italy and raised in Denmark before moving to London, Irene is joined by an outstanding line-up of international jazz musicians, including guitarist Luca Boscagin, pianist Federico De Vittor, bassist Riccardo Sardo and drummer Flavio Li Vigni. The band can perform in a range of line-ups, from an intimate acoustic trio to the full quintet, making La Dolce Vita equally at home providing sophisticated background music for a drinks reception or dinner, or creating a more lively focal point for an evening celebration. Irene has performed at many of the UK’s leading music venues, including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, PizzaExpress Jazz Club, Kings Place and Union Chapel, as well as appearing at the Barbican alongside Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Her performances have earned international recognition, including finalist and semi-finalist places at the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition and Brussels International Young Jazz Singer Competition. Originally studying jazz at the Academy of Music in Milan, Irene later continued her musical training in London at Goldsmiths College before completing a Master’s in Music Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Together, La Dolce Vita combines this wealth of jazz experience with something much more personal: a genuine affection for the songs, language and culture of Italy. Whether performing at a wedding, private party, corporate reception or Italian-themed celebration, the band can tailor the repertoire and line-up to suit the occasion.
