Based in London, UK 'Klezmer Foygl', meaning 'Klezmer Songbird' is an exciting new ensemble playing both traditional and original Klezmer repertoire. Led by Clarinettist John Macnaughton, and featuring some of the UK's leading Klezmer musicians, the group is deeply grounded in traditional Yiddish music, whilst simultaneously seeking to innovate upon it, and bring a contemporary London twist to its music. It is appropriate that 'Foygl' - meaning 'bird' is a symbol of Yiddishkeit, whilst also being slang for 'wise guy'..

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes we perform as either: Duo - Accordion and Clarinet Trio - plus Bass OR Percussion Quartet - plus BOTH Bass and Percussion We also work with some of the UK's finest Yiddish Singers and Dance callers, so larger lineups can be arranged on request.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Let us know as soon as you can and we will do our upmost to accommodate you. We charge extra for events which overrun more than 90mins (unless previously agreed), this is at an hourly rate per musician..

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We can provide this for an extra £100

How much time do you need to set up?

Usually around 1 hour

Can you roam around while you perform?

Yes we can play roaming, usually we would do this acoustically

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Usually we would play appropriate music from our repertoire as required, if you have specific requests let us know.
