Verified profile

Kirsten was born and grew up in Falmouth, Cornwall. She has just graduated from Bath Spa University with a BA Music degree (First Class Honours). She was also awarded the Bath Spa University Graduate Performance Award. Kirsten started performing at the age of 11 in school productions and local musical theatre companies: her principal roles included Maria in West Side Story, the Whale in Ocean World and most recently Galatea in the university production of Acis and Galatea. In 2010 she won the Most Promising Young Musician award at the Camborne Music Festival and went on to be awarded Best Young Singer at the County Music Festival in 2013. Throughout her secondary education Kirsten sang with Cornwall Youth Choir run by Truro Cathedral's Director of Music, Christopher Gray. Before heading to university, Kirsten spent a year with Cornish Opera company Duchy Opera, under the guidance of Musical Director Paul Drayton, taking part in their production of Carmen and their touring show Baron Herzog's Box of Operatic Delights in which solo roles included 'Adina's Cavatina' from L'Elisir D'Amore. Whilst in Cornwall Kirsten takes every opportunity to perform, appearing regularly as guest soloist with Cornish Male Voice Choirs including City of Truro MC, Treverva MVC and Nankersey MVC, performing a variety of genres from big band jazz to sacred classical. Now working at Wiltshire Music Centre and based in Bath, alongside her solo performing Kirsten sings with two community choirs: Silver Ring Choir and Lucis as well as Noctis Chamber Choir, under the direction of Francis Faux.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

People are often most surprised by the versatility of my voice and my ability to fill a large venue with no amplification - I have often been compared to Persil - Small but Mighty!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon Hall for Cornwall, Truro The Minack, Cornwall The Draper's Hall, London Bath Abbey The Forum, Bath St George's Hall, Bristol Many smaller local churches for weddings and funerals.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

A Charity Auction and Dinner for a military Charity held at The Drapers Hall in London. The event raised a fantastic £60,000 for the incredible charity.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

That is not a problem. I always try to be as flexible as possible. I have my own transport so a timing change is usually easy to accommodate.

How much time do you need to set up?

Usually about 10 minutes! Depending on the venue, it is useful to have a quick soundcheck and work out logistics surrounding where you would like me to be. If I am bringing backing tracks then this may add on 10 minutes.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Of course. My set list is just a small snapshot of the repertoire I have available so do ask if you'd like something that doesn't appear.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Absolutely. I am also more than willing to learn new repertoire if you have something specific in mind. Ideally, I would need about a week to learn a new piece to a high enough standard.
