About Keith

Reliable pianist who can play most styles from classical to pop music from the 1920s to the present, including film music and classic pop.
Pianist
Bourne
Public liability insurance of £1 million

I am a pianist and organist of many years’ experience who has played for many weddings. I was a music teacher for many years, so only had time to play for wedding receptions twice whilst doing that, although I often played for weddings (and funerals) in churches. I’ve now stopped my teaching and am concentrating on performing and have begun playing again for wedding receptions this year in June. I can bring a Roland portable piano if your venue does not have a piano available. As a result of my unusually varied skills (keyboard player, flautist, trombonist and singer) I am acquainted with a very wide range of music. I started as a classically trained pianist, organist and singer; did a music degree; have 2 organ diplomas and then in my teaching became familiar with most types of popular music since the 1920s. I now play trombone in a Concert Band and have done 2 arrangements for the full Band too. My repertoire includes popular classics (Beethoven, Mozart etc) or most music you’d hear on Classic FM. I also play a great deal of film music, film songs, pop songs and music by chart toppers since the 1950s. I have a very large repertoire here and will try to play favourites and learn new pieces if required. New requests recently include music from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Jurassic Park’. I have played the piano for many shows (e.g. Oliver! Oklahoma; Paint your wagon; the Mikado) and know the music for several more. I also contributed to a group writing songs and dances for a show called ‘Sparkling Eyes’ performed in Stamford and Cambridge in 2022 and have written another score for a show called ‘Finding Nadia’ which is awaiting performance. I have sung in several small choirs over the years and have also been part of wedding celebrations in this capacity too. Locally, I am in demand as an organist to play for services, weddings, funerals and baptisms, short concerts and special occasions. In one local annual concert I recently demonstrated that the organ can play film music or ‘fun music’ too, with music for ‘Heroes’ including James Bond and Superman!

I was absolutely delighted with Keith (the pianist) who played at my daughter’s wedding. From the initial booking to the final note on the day, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. He brought elegance, warmth, and a beautiful atmosphere that truly elevated the entire ceremony and reception. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a truly gifted and professional pianist for their event.

Keith has played both organ & piano for various events at St Michael & all Angels, Uffington over the past few years. He is a versatile, competent & reliable performer. He always chooses repertoire which enhances & compliments the occasion. For example in this year’s Scarecrow Festival he played from a selection of film themes which included James Bond, Harry Potter and Gabriel’s oboe and fitted perfectly with this year’s Festival theme ‘Heroes & Heroines’

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

On the piano I have had very pleased comments about my film music, popular music, music from specific performers. On the organ people have enjoyed my music before and during the services. On both instruments they have been very pleased that I have found music and performed they specially asked for.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

The Hilton Hotel in Cambridge The Barnsdale Hotel near Oakham Holmewood Hall wedding venue in Cambridgeshire Over 25 different churches round the country from North Yorkshire to Lincolnshire

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

In popular music - Abba, Elton John, the Beatles, popular American standards In classical - Scott Joplin, Gershwin and Mozart, Bach and Beethoven On the organ - Bach and lots of English music (Elgar etc)

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The Hilton Hotel in Cambridge, though the others are similar.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I'm always happy to be flexible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I don't provide a DJ service as I am usually a solo pianist or accompanist to other acoustic players.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually arrive at least an hour and a half before playing to make sure everything is ready.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes certainly, as long as the piano is in working order and in tune then I'm happy to play it.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course. I have quite an extensive list of pieces. I am happy to discuss which ones you would like me to play.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes. I have a good Roland portable electric piano. I would need to be near a suitable plug but can bring an extension lead.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

I can and have done so before. It is possible of course that I may already know it. Please allow me time to research and practise it if necessary. Modern songs are in copyright so I may need to charge an extra fee for each if I have to purchase it at full price.
