Turned up to my baby shower with a chest and sinus infection. Didn’t give any pre warning of this. Gave more speeches about how unwell she was than actually sing the songs. Extremely disappointed and my guests were not impressed everyone approaching me to say how annoying it was. Very embarrassing and put a dampener on the day. I’m still waiting for encore to come back to me about this. Their policy is to send a replacement singer if the performer is unable to attend so this should have been done rather than coming to a pregnant persons event when unwell. Very selfish.

Dear Charlotte, I am extremely sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience and sometimes it can be very hard to explain these things to clients coming from our side of things as live performers in the industry. I would like to begin with saying that whilst I am in both the music and legal sector and not in the healthcare field, I can confirm that a chest infection is not contagious and I would like to clarify that I was at the end of this and the treatment for it. The mention of this was simply to explain how happy I was to be at your event considering I had recently had a chest infection. Whilst I am deeply sorry you were not made aware of this prior to the event, this is due to the fact that chest infections are not contagious and therefore there was no legal/moral duty to inform you of this. The performance was also in a large outdoor setting away from your guests and having recently been pregnant myself I would not have carried out the job if I had any condition that was in fact contagious, in the duty of care to yourself and your guests. However, when your Uncle mentioned that both him and other guests had been saying amongst each other how good of a singer I was and how good my voice was, I simply thanked him and only mentioned the chest infection then to make a lighthearted joke in response to his comments, saying that I was extra happy to hear that considering having had the CI. Although, I appreciate that as busy you were, you may not had been privy to such conversations taking place. Furthermore, the mention of me recently having had a chest infection, was also simply to be transparent, honest, reassure you (in these Covid times!) and just simply make pleasantries because, as you can imagine, no matter how long one has been performing it can still be nerve wracking speaking in front of people you have just met. As this was stated at the start you were also free to let me know if you were uncomfortable with this for any reason. However, understandably you were not near me as you were constantly busy with your day, as expected, and nobody had a reason to come next to me as my equipment was around me, but as mentioned even if they had they would have been at no risk. I believe the reason no replacement was sent to you was because my throat and voice were fine and had adequate clarity, as it was actually at the end of it/the treatment as mentioned above. Most importantly, the video clips of my performance that were posted by a number of your own friends and family demonstrates the above very well and if anything was not of a high standard I am sure they would not have posted these, as I am confident they would not want to embarrass you. The footage shared by your guests also proves that I did of course sing songs and I sang around 14 songs, as I kindly performed additional tracks at the request of your guests. It would be most people’s understanding that your guests had to like/enjoy the performance in order to voluntarily share footage of it and even tag me in it. The clips were also seen by many other people who know and are local to you all and they also said it sounded great. I completed two sets during the event and even kindly sang additional songs as mentioned. This further proves the good condition I was in physically/health wise, as nobody would be able to get through that many songs if they were that unwell. The song requests from your guests which were requested after a good few songs in, further demonstrates that the service had to have been of a certain standard, as people would not ask for more of anything they do not like/enjoy or are uncomfortable by. I am however, very sorry that the numerous speeches I made in congratulations to both you and your partner, speeches about what a wonderful journey you are embarking on, the love you are all about to share and general well wishes were deemed insufficient to you. Similarly to when a customer dines in a restaurant and is unsatisfied with either the service/meal, if you at all felt uncomfortable at any point or unhappy you were free to inform me or have someone inform me at any point, for example in between the songs or after the first set, which I believe anyone would do if it was that bad, but nobody did. I would have honestly, happily left the property if required with no hard feelings as this is your right and you could have then liaised with the company as you have done since. I genuinely wanted you to have the best day and would not have wanted to let you down last minute and really did not think that there was any need to, as I felt able to give my best and then some and used all my energy in order to do just this and provide the best possible service. I know how much of a special yet stressful day this is firsthand, which is actually why I so much wanted to be a part of it and I am sorry to have unintentionally added to this stress in any way and for any embarrassment you may have felt. This complaint is also a first for me and so I am also very embarrassed by the ordeal too. Therefore, I am equally as keen as you are to resolve this in a positive manner. In regards to the company’s response to you, I would assume they have a certain timeframe to adhere to and I am sure they intend to contact you shortly to resolve the issue. Singing is not only my livelihood and way of taking care of my little family, it is also my passion that I take very seriously, so I absolutely would have been more than happy to have sought a resolution for you if I knew you were unhappy and if you had contacted me personally/directly in a different method, but now I am unsure of what else I would be able to do for you in this matter, so I will leave it with the company to assist further. I wish you and your family all the best on your new journey.

Justina was fantastic at our event and was full of life. She interacted brilliantly with the audience and got them all singing. Would definitely recommend and would love to her back for more events. xx

After seeing Justina perform at an outdoor cinema event before I kept her contact details and had her perform at my bbq/pool party. She was very energetic and played all the popular songs, both old and current. She has a lovely voice and was very friendly and professional leading up to the booking and on the day, constantly keeping me informed throughout. Will definitely be having her back again for further events! Thank you!
