Quo & Co

Singer/guitarist Rob Quo is accompanied by a rotating cast of musicians including Piano/Keyboards, Bass and Strings. With some musical partnerships lasting nearly 20 years, together Rob and his band of superb instrumentalists bring tonnes of collective experience and genuine musical chemistry to audiences all over London, the UK and beyond. The idea originally grew out of 'Jones & Quo', a duo formed between new musical acquaintances Oli Jones and Rob Quo - meeting at a jam session, initially bonding over their love for old-time Blues and Jazz, they began to branch out and explore songs of all different eras and genres. Beginning their gigging life as a Jazz duo (Vocals/Piano), they then added the guitar to give a rootsy rhythmic drive to the sound. Both sophisticated instrumentalists in their own right, their natural chemistry creates a unique and enthralling dynamic which incorporates the best of many musical modes and textures. Drawn to anything with soul, Jones & Quo can rock, swing or groove, with improvisation at the core of everything they do. This core dynamic/ethos has been continued and developed alongside an ever-expanding group of different musicians over the years. A bit more on a few of those featured: Rob Quo is a singer-songwriter of 10 years and the constant around which Quo & Co revolves. Playing stages up and down the country and recording/releasing his own music as well as performing a broad repertoire of popular song in a variety of groups and combinations. A self-taught singer and guitarist, he has a unique, organic sound which brings fresh life and vigour to all the music he plays. Oli Jones, a London Trinity Graduate, began playing as a straight-up jazz nut before exploring blues/honky-tonk and then mellowing into a general all-rounder. Oli has played in a great number of different groups and has lent his chops to many a recording session for Pop/Blues/Jazz artists alike. Alex Chalstrey met Rob Quo at school, where they first played with one another in professional Jazz Band, 'The CNS Allstars' performing gigs at Wilderness Festival, No.10 Downing Street and Cork Jazz Festival to name a few. On moving to London, Alex studied Jazz Piano at Guildhall and he and Rob began to play together as a duo. He has written, performed and released as part of Psych/Rock group 'Double-Cream' and plays in a variety of well-acclaimed wedding bands. Sam Hollis is a Bass-player from Norwich who has been a professional musician for over 12 years. Like Rob he never studied music after leaving school, instead making his own way in the Capital gigging, composing and teaching. Sam and Rob met playing on the singer-songwriter scene and in recent years they have toured extensively, playing numerous concerts and functions around London and beyond. Tim Gardner is a graduate of Goldsmiths University in Greenwich and has forged his career on-stage with international touring bands like Rye X and Kerala Dust. When he's not touring the world, he teaches at university, plays piano for a community choir and records his own music as well as performing functions in a variety of different groups.
