Born in 1991, Jonathan was raised in a Musical family, and started learning the Piano at the age of 7. He began learning the Clarinet at the age of 8, and the Saxophone at the age of 12. He obtained Grade 8 Clarinet Distinction at the age of 16, and went on to pass GCSE's and A Levels, obtaining a place at Lancaster University, to study Music, minoring in History. His Clarinet teachers at Lancaster University included Sarah Masters of the Liverpool Philharmonic, and Marianne Rawles, of the Royal Northern. In addition to receiving a 2:1 degree, he has also received a Dip. ABRSM in Clarinet Performance, as well as the Lancaster University "Performance Prize" for 2012. Since graduating University, he has held down a number of odd jobs, including Administration, Kitchen work, Call Centres and Retail. Since 2017 however, he has come back to re-embrace his Musical talents, focusing on entertainment in venues such as Care Homes and Hotels, as well as teaching in the North Devon area. He is a versatile Musician, being a strong Multi-Reed player, sight-reader and improviser, also doubling on the Flute. Jonathan has performed in a wide-array of styles and ensembles, including Solo Jazz, Big Bands, Wind Bands, Orchestras, Wind Ensembles/Quintets, Show Pit Orchestras, as well as singing in Choirs. Since 2014, he has performed Baritone Saxophone in the Soul, R&B and Popular 12-piece band DT8. Playing in a variety of venues and events, many of them including weddings and private parties, in the Somerset/ Dorset/ East Devon areas. His past times and interests include Cycling, Video Gaming, Surfing, Reading, History, Travel and simply socialising.
