I am a semi-pro baritone + MMus grad working hard to become a full pro; I also play piano/organ at church services + do some music teaching.

Singer (baritone)

Jonathan Gort studied music at the University of Liverpool, gaining a BA (Hons) and later a MMus degree (incl. a musicology component and a performance component). [The latter involved preparing and performing two c.50 minute vocal recitals and producing detailed programme notes for each of them.] Solo singing has in recent years become a key component of Jonathan's development as a singer; thus from 2013 onwards he has been studying voice under John Powell and also from 2015 onwards under Robert Alderson. Within the last year Jonathan has given three separate song recitals in South Manchester, each lasting just under a hour, two of them concentrating on 20th century English songs. He has also recently taken part in an opera gala concert near Liverpool where he performed 2 rather well known arias; he will be undertaking further opera solo and chorus work on a regular basis from now on. Jonathan is a regular soloist and pianist at his local church in Stockport and he currently sings with City of Manchester Opera, the Manchester Chamber Choir, the John Powell Singers (for Daily Services), Canzonetta and Capriccio. He also sings at The Oratory at St Chad’s, Manchester, St Paul’s Church, Withington, and every now and then at St Mary’s Priory Church, Warrington.
