I discovered the accordion when, living on a small boat, I missed my piano. I no longer miss my piano. 15 years later, I no longer have a small boat, but still have an accordion. I now have many years experience of entertaining at wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate events, outdoor events, street parties and pub dinners. I have a large repertoire of French musette music, tangos, popular Italian songs, klezmer tunes, folk tunes from the British Isles, and tunes from many European countries. I'm also available to book as part of a duo, with saxophonist Sean McBride. Our repertoire is focussed on Klezmer, but we're versatile.

John created the most fantastic atmosphere on the first day of our ArtBeat demonstrations and workshops. Testimonial – Royal Albert Hall engagement – January 2018 We were happy to engage John Slater for a private reception at the Royal Albert Hall in January 2018. On the night, Café Maestro was on time and looked great with his quirky style, which was perfect for our event. He played a one hour long set, as guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, however, was never intrusive. His choice of music and volume level were perfect for the area and setting.
