The Joana Ministro Samba Group is a Brazilian music project that plays styles such as Bossa Nova, Samba, Choro, and MPB. This vibrant ensemble brings the warm sounds and tropical rhythms of Brazil to its audience. This Samba Group is able to offer a different ensemble and set, according to the atmosphere of your event. Whether it is a more intimate and romantic setting, or an energetic and flirtatious one, we are as refreshing as a caipirinha! Joana Ministro Samba Group is eager to please and to provide a lively and warm-hearted performance. Joana Ministro is a portuguese singer and songwriter that specialises in brazilian music. She is currently based in London after graduating from BIMM Institute. Her influences come from various Brazilian and Jazz singers. During Joana's set you can hear a range of compositions from João Gilberto, Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque, Dorival Caymmi, Toquinho, Djavan, Rogê, amongst others.

Fantastic, highly talented band, super professional - the perfect experience from enquiry right to the performance. We booked the 4-piece band for out private party for three hours of Bossa Nova, Samba and MPB, and they delivered everything we asked for and more. Joana was in contact with me well before the event to discuss our favourite music style, songs, timings and setting, dress code. Everything was thoughtfully planned in advance so we could just relax and enjoy on the night. The sound quality was outstanding in our outdoor setting and even our friends who didn't know anything about Brazilian music absolutely loved it and asked for the playlist afterwards. We can't recommend them highly enough! Five stars!

We were delighted to watch you and your guests dancing to different Brazilian songs and rhythms! We will hopefully have the honour to perform again for such an enthusiastic crowd in the near future! Thank you!

This lovely trio performed on the hotel's terrace in the afternoon, during our afternoon tea service. The weather was not great. However, this trio managed to bring some sort of warmness and happiness to our guests, some of our guests even sang along to some of the songs. Everyone agreed it was a delightful afternoon and they had a lot of fun and felt pleasantly relaxed while listening to the music. We will definitely hire them again when they are in Portugal.

Our line-up is as follows: Trio: Vocals + Guitar/Cavaquinho + Percussions We also offer the possibility of a Duo or Quartet: Duo: Vocals + Guitar/Cavaquinho Quartet: Vocals + Guitar/Cavaquinho + Percussions/Drum kit + Bass. For more options please contact us to discuss further details.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be as flexible as we can, ensuring that your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run-up to the event just let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We have a selection of the best Brazilian music to keep the mood going between our sets. This service is free of charge.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before our performance. As soon as the PA is set up, we can provide a free playlist to help set the mood and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We want you to be happy, and to also ensure that your guests are enjoying themselves and having an amazing time. Therefore, we are happy to discuss the songs on the set list prior to the event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA system is based on individual amplifiers, which can be used in an intimate setting for up to 50 people. For bigger events please contact us to discuss further details.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We are happy to take most song requests for free. However, depending on the song requested and its complexity, we might add an additional cost.
