About Jack

Friendly and easy-going pianist and composer/arranger with a background in classical & jazz performance and accompanying.
Pianist
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

I play in a variety of styles including classical, jazz, musical theatre, and Scottish folk music. I work both as an accompanist of recitals/exams/concerts/recording sessions/rehearsal pianist and as a solo performer with a diverse repertoire of background/easy-listening music ideal for weddings/drinks receptions/private functions and events. The bulk of my work falls within the following areas: Accompanist/Repetiteur - I have extensive experience working with singers (classical, jazz and musical theatre) as a recital/concert accompanist, audition pianist, and rehearsal pianist. I also have extensive experience in accompanying instrumentalists. Solo Performer - With previous experience in both wedding and hotel 'lounge' music, I have a repertoire incorporating songs from the Great American Songbook, mainstream classical and pop music, and musical theatre. Arranger/Composer - I am a composer of contemporary classical music as well as an arranger/orchestrator of jazz, pop, and musical theatre. After training in piano performance and composition at the University of Edinburgh, where I graduated with a 1st class (Hons) degree in 2020, I then completed a Master’s degree in composition at Trinity Laban in 2022. Throughout this time, I remained active as an accompanist of both instrumentalists and singers, and as a repetiteur for several college and external opera scenes and productions. Since graduating, I have worked as a freelance accompanist and repetiteur in London and the south-east. In addition to teaching piano and music theory, I play regularly as an accompanist of exams/auditions and in recitals. Having relocated to London, I am looking to continue playing for weddings/functions/private events as a solo pianist, with a broad repertoire comprising easy-listening music ideal for drinks receptions and background music.

Jack is a fantastic pianist who I have had the pleasure of working with on a number of occasions. He has incredible technique on the piano and his sight reading ability is the best! He excells at a range of styles from classical to jazz and he is able to learn you songs to a very high standard at the drop of a hat. Very professional and friendly and always on time too. Can't recommend him enough!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I will try my best to be flexible to ensure your event runs smoothly! If timings change slightly in the run up to the event, just let me know.

How much time do you need to set up?

Since the venue should already have a piano, I require minimal set up time, around 5 minutes.

Provided the piano is in working order and in tune, I am happy to play on it.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

I am not currently able to bring my own piano or keyboard to events.
