Igor Outkine came to London in 1990 with the gypsy band Loyko. He is a versatile singer, accordion player and a unique one-man orchestra when performing on midi accordion. In 1996 he created duo Mazaika with violinist Sarah Harrison. Their extensive repertoire consists of classical, opera, tango, Latin, Hot Club Jazz, Russian folk and gypsy music as well as Russian and International popular songs. Igor appears on screen in the David Cronenberg film Eastern Promises (2007) singing Dark Eyes. He has collaborated with various artists including guitarist Antonio Forcione and Soft Cell lead singer Marc Almond, and has performed many live improvised music scores for silent films. He has organized the Russian Winter Ball in Jan 2016 and 2017 and performed with his Viennese Fever Orchestra at Austrian Ball in London in 2017. Igor studied classical accordion at Elektrostal's music college and traditional singing at the Gnesin Institute in Moscow. In 1996 he met violinist Sarah Harrison with who he created Mazaika. His performance of Russian Tangos, Romances and Folksongs at the Oxford Chamber Music Festival in 2000 was broadcast by BBC Radio 3. In 2004 he has appeared in Almeida Theatre in London with Soft Cell's lead singer Marc Almond playing and singing Russian songs and is featured on Marc’s live DVD “Sin Songs”. He has played on several major film soundtracks including "The Man Who Knew Too Little" (1998), "Birthday Girl" (2001), "Mirrormask" (2004), "La Vie en Rose" (1997), and "la Mome" (2007). Igor also appears on screen in the new feature film "Eastern Promises" (2007) directed by David Cronenberg ("Fly", "Crash") singing the Russian song Dark Eyes. Igor is also plays midi accordion which allows him to create live the sounds of different bands - jazz trio, big band, rock band, tango band, symphony orchestra as well as we’ll as a sound of different accordions. Its unique and very impressive!
