House of Harmony was formed at a mutual friend’s wedding when each one of us was asked to play at the wedding reception. Intended as a one-off gig, the enjoyment of playing together resulted in the creation of House of Harmony. MEET THE BAND Felicity VOCALS Felicity began playing the piano at the age of 4 and from then on was seeking every opportunity to make music. She sang with Derby Cathedral Choir, becoming Head Girl and singing in many wonderful cathedrals, including St Paul’s in London and Notre Dame in Paris. Whilst growing up, Felicity was also busy with youth theatres, orchestras and wind bands, playing principal oboe for Derbyshire City and County wind band and orchestra. She graduated from the University of York with a BA (Hons) degree in Music and currently teaches singing to students of all ages whilst studying for her Masters in Music Therapy. Jamie GUITAR / VOCALS Some of Jamie's unique approach to guitar is due to his classical training at Birmingham Conservatoire where he acheived his BMus (Hons) degree. Jamie plays as part of the instrumental trio ‘Threaded’ with whom he tours the UK regularly. He has also performed with some of the top folk players in Joe Broughton's Conservatoire Folk Ensemble, headlining big festivals such as Towersey and performing in the legendary Royal Albert Hall. Jamie also works on outreach projects, such as playing in the wards of Royal Derby Hospital, delivering song-writing workshops and teaching guitar, which he has done for over 10 years. Stephen BASS Stephen began playing the bass at the age of 14 and shortly afterwards joined his school swing band, jazz ensemble and musical theatre band. He studied music at the University of Leeds and now greatly enjoys his work playing the bass for local musicals, big bands, jazz trio and various other music outreach projects. He is a keen cyclist and also works part-time as a choral singer and accountant. Jack DRUMS Jack began playing drums at the age of 13 and hasn’t looked back. Previously playing saxophone and keyboard, he really found his feet on the kit. During school, Jack played in a number of classical orchestras, rock groups and big bands including the East Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra. He studied for a Masters Degree in Music at the University of Nottingham and now teaches Music and Music Technology in north Nottinghamshire. Jack also plays for a number of local amateur dramatic societies and musically directs his annual school show. He is also a keen cook and runner, regularly running for a number of local charities.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The voice of our vocalist and our song choices which get people up dancing and having fun are regularly commented upon. The friendliness of all the band members is also appreciated by clients.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Various hotels and wedding venues in the Midlands. And lots of marquees!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Our drummer plays for a lot of musical theatre performances, out guitarist is from a folk background, our bassist is from a Jazz background and our singer was classically trained. But we all absolutely love performing covers of pop/rock hits from the 1960s onwards!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I don't think this is what the question meant, but we once played a gig up a huge hill in the peak district and our cars could barely make it up the road! It was a lovely gig in a marquee in a client's garden with some amazing views.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes. (The only time we would use another singer is in an absolute emergency due to ill health.)

Do you have different line-up options?

Our lively dance sets are always a 4-piece line-up. (An acoustic 2-piece is available for quieter moments of the day if required.)

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Please let us know the new timings as soon as possible and we will try our very best to work to them.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, a simple DJ service (using Spotify Premium), or use of our PA system to play your own playlist, is FREE in-between sets & available as an 'add-on' after the final band set (£125 per hour).

How much time do you need to set up?

1 hour is usually sufficient.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

2 (out of the 3) packages we offer include song requests.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA and lighting is included and it is all PAT tested. An 18ft (width) x 12ft (depth) space is usually more than enough for us. We require access to power and cover (for outdoor events).

Can you learn song requests before the event?

1 of our packages includes the learning of 1 special song (e.g. for a first dance).

The band played a great variety of songs to suit all ages and played playlist as requested. Band were very friendly and professional. My only query is the lead singer did not seem to be the same one as in the videos when we booked. The lead singer sang well and there is no issue. I felt the band / lead singer could have interacted a bit more with the guests but I appreciate you are not DJ's. We have had complimentary comments from our guests about your performance. Thank you. I will recommend you to others and keep you in mind for future family parties. Thank you so much! Ps sorry this is a bit late - we are in Sardinia on honeymoon!

Hi Gemma, thanks again for having us at your wedding, we had a great time and your guests were wonderful. I hope you're having a nice time in Sardinia (despite the heatwave)! We pride ourselves on not ever cancelling last-minute on our clients, as many bands do in emergency situations. We have backup equipment and a team of reserve musicians. I do apologise that this wasn't made clear to you and we will make sure all our future couples understand that we are a band that does not cancel (but does occasionally bring in emergency people). Thanks again!
