Verified profile

Heather was inspired to play the harp at the age of six and as a junior student at Trinity College of Music she studied harp with Gabriella Dall’Olio and Frances Kelly and continued her studies at The Royal Academy of Music, London with Karen Vaughan (Head of Harp) graduating with an MA with Distinction, BMus (Hons) and an LRAM harp teaching qualification. From a young age Heather has been interested in different types of harps and in addition to the Classical Harp plays Celtic, Baroque triple and Paraguayan Harps. Heather currently freelances as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician which has led her to perform at prestigious concert venues including The Royal Festival Hall, Cardiff Millennium Centre, Royal Opera House, Cadogan Hall, St John’s, Smith Square, Kings College Chapel, Cambridge, Glyndebourne Opera House, Kensington Palace and St James’ Palace. As an active chamber musician Heather is a founder member of The Aurora Flute and Harp Duo and The Aurora Trio (flute, viola and harp). From 2014-2016 The Aurora Trio was awarded a prestigious chamber music fellowship at The Royal Academy of Music, they also work together as musical artists for Live Music Now and The Concordia Foundation. Heather has featured on a number of recordings including composer Paul Patterson’s CD ‘Harp Gallery’ which showcases his works for harp, and most recently a recording for Rick Wakeman and a number of video game sound-tracks including the award winning ‘Total War’ series. Performance highlights include playing in the choir of 60 harps at the Royal Opera House, London for His Royal Highness Prince Charles 60th birthday celebration and performing the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto with the European Union Chamber Orchestra and Cyprus Sinfonia.

Heather has been amazing from start to finish! I got in touch with Heather and discussed my ideal song choices for our wedding ceremony and she went away and learnt the ones she didn't already have in her repertoire - simply amazing! Our guests absolutely loved the music which was playing whilst they arrived and at different points during the ceremony and Heather came over to me before she left to congratulate us which was super lovely. I will 100% book Heather for future events, she was amazing!

Heather turned our ceremony and reception from great to perfect. Nothing gave us more joy than walking down the aisle to the beautiful music she was playing. The variety of songs she knows and how well she plays them is very impressive. We cannot appreciate how much she added to the day. Was very responsive and punctual too. Fully recommend!

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If it is just a change to the start time of the event that is fine and can be arranged and if you would like me to perform for longer I can provide a quote for this.

How much time do you need to set up?

I normally arrive an hour before each event starts but it only takes me around 10-15 minutes to set up the harp in the performance room.

Is the transport of your harp included in your quote?

Yes, all enquiries I quote for include all travel costs for transporting my harp.

Do you need any equipment provided to play outdoors?

I wouldn't need any equipment for my harp as it is played acoustically. If it is hot and sunny I request a shady spot or a parasol on hand from the venue. If it is raining I would need to perform indoors as my instrument is valuable.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes, I will send you my repertoire list prier to the event so you can choose your music requests. If you would like some help choosing suitable music I can also send some ideas.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If there is a piece you would like which is not on my repertoire list, please let me know what it is and if I do not already perform it I would be happy to arrange it for you free of charge.
