With over 15 years' experience, award winning harpist Harriet has played for Royalty, film stars, and top orchestras like the Philharmonia!

Recently awarded 'Best Wedding Harpist - London' at the 2019 Global Wedding Awards, Harriet is in high demand for weddings and functions due to her expertise and performing flair. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Harriet combines her musical talent with absolute professionalism and a ‘can do’ attitude. Harriet’s harp has taken her to diverse locations and star studded events including a performance in front of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II as part of the celebrations for her Diamond Jubilee, an appearance at the BRIT Awards and a live duet on TV with Dermot O'Leary for Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother. A versatile performer, not only has she has dressed up as an angel to appear at London’s Fabric Night Club and recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, but she has also performed on BBC 1's Songs of Praise, played live on ITV's Good Morning Britain, and filmed for the ITV drama series Harlots and for Channel 5’s The Hotel Inspector. For several years she performed regular recitals on cruise ships including Cunard’s legendary QE2, and also Fred Olsen and P & O cruises. Harriet has played in all the major London Hotels including Claridges, The Ritz, the Savoy, and the Dorchester Hotel. As a soloist she has given many recitals at major London venues including St Martin’s-in-the-Fields, the National gallery and St James’s Palace. In addition to live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4, Harriet has appeared at the Swaledale Festival, and has performed concertos with orchestras including the Dart Festival Orchestra and the Ten Tors Orchestra. As part of her award from the Martin Musical Fund, she toured with the Unicorn Theatre Project / Philharmonia Orchestra for their production of the opera Clockwork, culminating in performances at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Covent Garden. Harriet has worked regularly with many orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra (where she also performed in their Music Of Today series), the Orchestra of the Swan and the Northern Sinfonia. Harriet will tailor her music to suit each individual event and client’s tastes. Her repertoire is enormously varied and she is happy to take requests with advance warning, and where possible, on the day. She is as equally happy performing light Classical, folk or jazz tunes, as she is pop and Bollywood music. If you would like help choosing music, she is able to provide a comprehensive selection of pieces which work well for the different parts of the day. The right sounds can inspire and complement a magical event, and Harriet will ensure that the music for your day is unique and a lasting memory. Harriet performs mainly on her two full-size concert harps: a natural wood finish Salvi Diana and a stunning golden Salvi Electra. She can also provide a smaller Clarsach harp (useful when space is at a premium), and for a more contemporary feel, even a pearlescent white electric harp! Harriet concentrates most of her bookings in London and the Home Counties area, but will also consider events further afield depending on the date and location.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If you need to change the timings of your booking before the day of the event then I always do my best to accommodate this.

How much time do you need to set up?

I arrive half an hour before I am due to start playing in order to set up. The harp is very simple to get ready - just remove the covers, tune and go!

Is the transport of your harp included in your quote?

The price quotes includes travel costs.

Do you need any equipment provided to play outdoors?

Playing outside is usually fine but is at my discretion on the day. If it’s sunny I need to be in suitable shade and under cover if raining or there is imminent risk of rain. I also need to be on a flat surface in order to be able to play.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

You are welcome to pick out music from my repertoire lists. I can also offer suggestions if you are stuck for ideas.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I am happy to take requests in advance. Most music is fine to play on the harp providing that there is proper sheet music available. I include up to four requests as part of the quote, each song after that is an additional £10.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I am trained to an extremely high level and this comes across in the music I play. One of the comments I get most from clients is how good I make the music sound. Clients also appreciate how organised and efficient I am in helping their event run smoothly.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed at 100s of venues across the UK including all the major London hotels (Savoy, Claridges, The Ritz, Dorchester etc), the Royal Albert Hall, St James’ Palace, the QEII Cruise ship. Other venues include Clivedon, Hedsor House, Wotton House, Blenheim Palace, Leeds Castle, Knebworth, Waddesdon Manor and Leez Priory.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

As I’m classically trained I particularly love composers such as Ravel, Debussy, Rachmaninov and Bach. I also love jazz and folk music.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

There are quite a few to choose from: performing with Florence and the Machine at the BRITS, performing for the Queen at Lambeth Palace, working with Dermot o’Leary on Celebrity Big Brother....

Harriet was utterly professional and the harp sounded absolutely stunning during our wedding ceremony. The day was very chaotic and we were running late, but she rolled with it and everything ran seamlessly. We picked a mixture of classical, modern and bollywood songs to reflect the tastes of us and our guests and they cannot stop telling us how impressed they were with Harriet's playing. Thank you very much for making our ceremony that bit more magical with the beautiful harp. All the best, Hannah and Declan.

Birthday P, 3 years ago

Many thanks for coming to play the harp at Buxted Park for my 70th Birthday celebration. Everyone had a lovely afternoon. I am so pleased I decided to have a harpist to complete the occasion.
