About Fox & The Hounds

Festival-style Mumford & Sons-inspired acoustic strolling band. Guaranteed to create intimate and memorable moments with your loved ones ❤️
Mumford folk band
London
Public liability insurance of £5 million

Fox & The Hounds is a Mumford & Sons inspired roaming band. The band is primarily booked for their acoustic sets and their ability to stroll through mingling or seated guests and perform for them at their tables or huddles, much like a mariachi band would do. The band can double up and do an electric set in the evening as well for more of a party atmosphere. Their 3-piece lineup is lead vocals with acoustic bass, acoustic guitar with backing vocals, and saxophone with backing vocals. Their full lineup includes drums with backing vocals. The band has one of the biggest repertoires of any roaming act in the UK, and all of the band members sing which means you can expect beautiful breathtaking harmonies throughout their performance. Couple that with their incredibly friendly and kind personalities and you’ve got a recipe for success. Fox & The Hounds cater to their clients needs every time, following schedules to the minute and of course, being flexible when things run behind. When the band is roaming they create really personal experiences for their client’s guests, which ensures guests and clients have memories that will last a lifetime and be looked upon fondly. The talented Richard leads the way in Fox & The Hounds. He’s a self-taught vocalist and multi-instrumentalist with perfect pitch. Richard was brought up with singing nearly before he could speak. His vocals are reminiscent of George Michael’s, with more richness and power. Richard has been featured on many radio stations as well as graced the stages of BBC Introducing and supported Hawklords (formerly Hawkwind), Scouting for Girls, and The Wurzels. This singer-songwriter-multi instrumentalist is more than capable of delivering a high-quality performance time and time again. Richard is supported by Nick on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, Thiago on saxophone and backing vocals, and Edu on drums and backing vocals. All four band members are able to roam - even Edu on drums! And Nick and Richard can switch to their electric guitars for an evening high-energy party performance. A common thread between all of these musicians is that they all began singing and playing music from before they even started school with encouragement from their parents and families. They are largely self-taught, certainly in the beginning, having then enhanced their skills with private lessons, with some going on to study music courses in further education at the Academy of Contemporary Music, University of Southampton, ICMP (London Music College) and Kingston University. Having been active in the music scene for some time now, they are all established musicians each having their own achievements in different corners of the music industry, for example with their music in movies; having toured 4 different continents and more than 17 countries; been on BBC Radio; been awarded the Daily Echo Curtain Call award for musical direction on a Sweeney Todd theatre production; become established Spotify artists; having a successful online music lesson channel with 1.6 million views; and having worked with the likes of James Bourne (of Busted); and performed or supported many artists like Bad Religion, Sublime, Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake. Richard’s confident vocal soars with each song from the band’s 300 song repertoire. Their favourite genres are acoustic-folk, pop, and rock, however, they’ve plenty of Britrock, classic rock, rock n roll, 60s, disco, soul, 80s, 90s, festive, Latin, jazz, swing, and even a touch of metal too. Fox & The Hounds welcome you to tailor the setlist for your big event. For a standard 2x60 mins or 3x40mins performance you can select up to 32 songs from the band’s 300 song repertoire, and the band will endeavour to accommodate all of your requests, given a month’s notice. For short notice bookings, you are still very welcome to send over your suggestions, and as always, the band will do their utmost to accommodate as many requests as possible. Fox & The Hounds is also very happy to learn an ‘off the menu’ song request for you, for example, a first dance or your favourite song. Upon booking, you will have a dedicated band manager as your point of contact to ensure the band is 100% on the same page as you well in advance of your event. Having this point of contact means you can count on excellent, fast, friendly, and warm communication at all times. It also means that come the big day every single crease will be ironed out and it will mean smooth sailing for both client and band alike. All in all, Fox & The Hounds are a very friendly and flexible bunch and take great pride in providing excellent musicianship and creating a really fun atmosphere wherever they go. The band has a big long list of songs spanning different genres and decades for you to pick from and can play complimentary playlist music (which you are welcome to tailor) before, in-between and after live sets until curfew. The band can be on-site for up to 7 hours, or until midnight as standard. They are happy to accommodate early arrivals before 5pm and late stays after midnight if needed too. For a roaming set the band does not bring PA and lighting, as it is not needed, however, if you would like to book them for an evening electric set they will be more than happy to bring a full PA and lighting rig with them, so all you need to do is book the band and you can tick the entertainment off your to-do list in one fell swoop because Fox & The Hounds will have you covered. If you've any questions about the band and what they offer please don't hesitate, they'll be more than happy to help.

We just wanted to email to thank the guys for being amazing on our wedding day! So many of our guests have commented saying how great they were and that they got the party started straight away. They loved that they could just request their own songs and everyone has said the atmosphere was nothing like they had seen before at a wedding that early on in the day. Even the staff at the house stopped us to say how good they were. They were exactly what we were after and we couldn't be happier. If you could pass on our thanks that would be amazing. Best wishes

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They love how interactive our act is. We're very lucky to be able to provide a service that creates such special intimate moments for friends, families, and even colleagues. It really brings people together.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Oh my goodness. So many. The Electric Ballroom, The Underworld, O2 Academy Oxford, Norwich Arts Centre, Brudenell Social Club Leeds, 924 Gilman,, Watford Colosseum, Birmingham Asylum, The Joiners, The Amersham Arms, The Mean Fiddler, The Boileroom, Leicester Square Theatre, and countless wedding venues across the UK.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

A lot of musicians inspire us! Here are some of the well-known ones: Ringo Starr, Phill Collins, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, James Brown, The Rolling Stones, The Four Seasons, Queen, Beyonce, Sublime, Genesis, Tears for Fears, Nile Rodgers, George Michael, Radiohead, REM, Muse, Joni Mitchell, and U2.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

This one probably goes to our saxophone player who has played with and/or supported Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Rise Against, Sublime with Rome, Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Fishbone, Pepper, and Katchafire! 🤩

Do you have different line-up options?

We have two line-ups. The standard 3-piece lineup is lead vocals with acoustic bass, acoustic guitar with backing vocals, and saxophone with backing vocals. The full 4-piece lineup also has drums with backing vocals.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are super flexible. We provide an event sheet for you to edit, if you need to change the timings you can change them in the event sheet, and we'll follow that on the day. Generally speaking, we can arrive from 5pm and depart at midnight without incurring any additional fee.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we can - just be sure to book the PA add on for this one 😄

How much time do you need to set up?

If you'd like us roaming - 10 minutes. If you'd like us electric, with PA, 90 minutes.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Yes! We perform acoustically which gives us full flexibility to move around the room and area freely.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, of course, we welcome client song suggestions from our repertoire. You can suggest up to 32 songs from our big list of over 300. 😄

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Most clients want us to roam, and therefore to keep costs down we don't quote with the PA and lighting included as it's not needed, but we do list the PA and light package in our add ons if you'd like to tack that on to the booking.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, every booking comes with one free 'off the menu' song request. Each additional song is £63.
