Felicity Meakins (nee Orme) graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2011 where she studied with the World renowned harpist Ieuan Jones. Prior to this Felicity studied at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music for four years with Eira-Lynn Jones. During her studies she had the opportunity to play in masterclasses for many distinguished harpists including Marisa Robles, Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche, Kathleen Bride and Daphne Boden. Felicity provides background music for weddings and events throughout the year. She has held residencies at the Connaught and Landmark Hotels and she is a regular guest artist at The Ritz, St Pancras Renaissance and Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Oxfordshire. Memorable performances over recent years include a performance of Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto in Northampton, accompanying Florence and the Machine and Dizzy Rascal at the Brit Awards, featuring as a harpist on the film Brighton Rock, and playing with 60 harpists at the Royal Opera House for Prince Charles’s 60th Birthday. Most recently Felicity has has provided music for functions at the House of Lords, the Supreme Court, Kensington Palace, British Museum, Tower Bridge, The Dorchester, Fulham Palace. Felicity has played at functions for HRH The Princess Royal, Prince Michael of Kent, visiting Royal dignitaries, also at a private dinner for Peter Jones (Dragons Den) and for the opening of Mary Portas’s shop in Barnes.

This was the second time we had booked Felicity for a private party. Felicity arrived early and set herself up quietly and calmly whilst we finished off decorating the room. She started promptly and we had 30 people arrive to music. She played classical music for 2 hours, with a short comfort break halfway through. Everyone loved the music and watching Felicity play. At the end, several people went up to Felicity to ask questions and she was very good replying and spending time doing so. I would totally recommend Felicity. We have booked her twice now and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Felicity was brilliant from our very first message exchange, she was happy to learn new songs for our wedding ceremony and agreed to help with keeping me hiring her as a surprise for my husband to be, keeping the harp hidden until my husband walked down the aisle. All our guests commented on how lovely her playing was, I just wish I got more time to listen to her myself (downside of being a bride). I would absolutely recommend Felicity to anyone looking for a harpist in the future, her playing is exquisite, she was really punctual, her communication over here and on email was really great, and she was so lovely when I got to meet her.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event let me know at the earliest possible opportunity. Large time changes may mean an increase, or possible reduction in my fee.

How much time do you need to set up?

I would usually aim to be completely set up 30 minutes before an event is due to start - I usually arrive 1 hour before to get the harp in, tuned and then get changed.

Is the transport of your harp included in your quote?

Yes - all travel costs are included in any quote!

Do you need any equipment provided to play outdoors?

My instrument is acoustic however it needs to be out of any direct sunlight (large umbrellas are usually ok). If there is any chance of rain then full cover is needed or I would need to be placed indoors. The harp is very valuable and cannot be put at risk of damage.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes - I always encourage clients to pick music that they love, most clients pick a few pieces and then I will pick suitable ones to compliment. By all means go off the list, I will talk through all music choices in advance and make sure we have the right ambience for your event.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, of course! If a piece isn't on the list, it doesn't necessarily mean that I don't already know it so always ask. If it is more unusual then there may be a small fee to go towards sourcing the sheet music and my time learning it.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Firstly, the harp itself is stunning! The music sounds beautiful and I always put together the best possible performance. I am always really early so everyone is put at ease - including me, you don't want to be rushing around with a harp!

Mainly my amazing teachers. I have been lucky enough to play to some of the top harpists around the world including Ieuan Jones, Marisa Robles, Catrin Finch and Kathleen Bride among many others, all of whom have influenced me.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

At a private dinner for the Royal family and visiting Royals and dignitaries. I have also played at the Brit Awards, I am seen on screen playing in the film Brighton Rock (most recent release), I played for Prince Charles's 60th Birthday and for a huge gala with many famous faces at the V&A.
