Esther began to play the harp at the age of six, and has studied under Luc Walpot, Catherine White and Ruth Faber prior to beginning her undergraduate degree at the Royal Academy of Music. She is now in her second year, studying under the tutelage of Karen Vaughan, and was recently commended in the 2017 Guy Macgrath Harp Prize. As an orchestral harpist, Esther has played with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra, Royal Academy Opera, London Mahler Orchestra, London City Orchestra, Oberon Symphony Orchestra, University of London Symphony Orchestra, Saffron Walden Opera Group, Wells Cathedral School Symphony Orchestra, and the South West Youth Orchestra. She has worked under the batons of renowned conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Edward Gardener and John Wilson, and has premiered works by Tansy Davies, Unsuk Chin, Larry Goves and Iris ter Schiphorst. Esther has played in many major venues across the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Sage Gateshead, Snape Maltings, Barbican, Leeds Town Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Regents Hall. Notable solo highlights include playing for HRH Duchess of Cornwall on the Royal Harp at Clarence House. Esther gained a scholarship for Wells Cathedral School as a specialist musician for sixth form, where her flute, viola and harp trio were runners up at the British Harp Chamber Music Competition in 2015. Growing up in Devon, Esther has freelanced with local orchestras such as the Torbay Symphony Orchestra and the Plymouth University Orchestra, and has won local festivals and competitions in Devon and Somerset.
