Vocalist Emma Walton grew up in Cumbria. There she began her career in the Carlisle Cathedral Choir and Quay Voices Choir, based at The Sage, Gateshead; performing as a soloist with the Royal Northern Sinfonia aged 17. Between 2006 and 2011, Emma studied at the University of Huddersfield, gaining a Bachelors of Music degree and a Postgraduate Diploma – both in Performance – with Paul Wade and Rachel Nicholls. Emma graduated in 2015 with a Distinction MMus in Vocal Performance studying with Jane Irwin. Whilst there she sang the roles of Olga (Lehar: The Merry Widow) and Mother (Humperdinck: Hansel and Gretel). Thanks to a generous scholarship, Emma has recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Alexander Gibson Opera School with Helen Lawson. New music is of particular interest to Emma, singing Julia Grant in the UK premiere of Philip Glass’ opera ‘Appomattox’ and The Man in the premiere of Joshua Goodman’s ‘The Man and Men’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Most recently Emma has taken on the roles of Vinesse in a new workshop performance by Daniel Janke, as well as Character E in the premiere of Anna Semple’s ‘The Next Station is Green Park’. Emma regularly performs at weddings, vow renewals, baptisms and funerals in Glasgow Cathedral and various other locations around the UK and Europe.

Supremely talented soprano Emma Walton effortlessly stretches all three and a half octaves of the discordant but surprisingly beautiful contemporary score
