Harpist

Public liability insurance of £10 million

Emilija is a professional classical musician who started studying the kanklės at the age of nine in Lithuania. Emilija has been playing the kanklės for 14 years and has been awarded the title of the National Laureate of Lithuania twice. The kanklės is the Lithuanian National instrument, which remains relatively unknown to many. However, Emilija is committed to present this unusual instrument to new audiences in order to educate more people about the kanklės and promote the diversity of Lithuanian culture. Following the completion of her first-class degree in Music in London, Emilija has now become a performer in the city of London. Her performances are characterized by skillful integration of the traditional folk instrument, the kanklės, into diverse genres, including classical, pop, and soundtrack music.

We cannot express how delighted we were with Emilija, her music was played so beautifully and she also took the time to learn two new songs that she had never done before. Emilija is a true professional and we would highly recommend her to anyone, she really made our wedding renewal special.

While researching for some background music for our anniversary event we came across Emilija and her unusual instrument. We were looking for something mellow but versatile to lift the atmosphere as our sixty guests arrived. The Kankles was the perfect instrument and so beautifully played by Emilija. It was just right, with it's harp-like tones, with such a calming sound and creating interest in all the guests. Emilija played classical music, gentle pop and well-known modern classics. People were, of course, chatting all the time but the appreciation, shown by great applause after her one hour and forty minutes set, showed that the guests had thoroughly enjoyed listening. Emilija was also happy to chat to guests and is a lovely pleasant lady. We thoroughly recommend her for and event you may have in mind.

Emilija is a musician we have never seen anything like before! She plays the Kanklės, which is such a beautiful and unique instrument, and she plays it so well! Emilija is perfect for any venue such as a well established restaurant, beautiful weddings, or cozy pubs, as she will not only bring great music, but something no one has seen before!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Truthfully, I believe it is the uniqueness of the instrument I play! I must confess, during my performances, there are often delightful interruptions (which I love by the way, haha!) due to the curiosity about the kanklės. I always talk about it before or after playing and happily address any questions you may have!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

While I may not have performed at renowned venues yet, I have showcased my music and instrument in various locations across London and Lithuania. It has been a rewarding experience introducing many people to my unique instrument and musical style!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I listen to both vocal and instrumental music, exploring diverse avenues for musical learning. One of my favorite artists is Eva Cassidy, despite the slight difference in our genres, as she, being a singer, captivates me with her style and commitment to her artistic identity. It is a crucial quality I always carry with me when I step onto the stage.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Each gig holds equal importance to me!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Feel free to inform me once you have confirmed timings, and I'll make the necessary adjustments as needed.

How much time do you need to set up?

I typically require a short setup time, usually arriving 30 to 60 minutes prior to the performance. This timeframe allows me to dress up, do the full setup, and tune my instrument!

Is the transport of your harp included in your quote?

Yes - transport is included in my quote.

Do you need any equipment provided to play outdoors?

All I need is a flat surface to ensure the instrument's stability, along with some form of shelter to secure it from elements like sun or rain.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes! However, my repertoire may vary at times, depending on the pieces I am currently working on. Feel free to let me know your preference for a particular genre (classical/pop/folk), and I will tailor my performance accordingly.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I would be delighted to learn and perform a few pieces of your choice for your event. If there are specific pieces, please inform me in advance, and I will gladly do the pieces arrangements.
