About Eleanor

Eleanor is a second year undergraduate, reading Music at St Peter’s College, Oxford. She began learning the flute aged 7 with Sonja Helliar, with whom she remained for 9 years and passed Grade 8 with Distinction. As a Sixth Form Music Scholar at Sherborne Girls, Eleanor studied under Owain Bailey, passing her DipABRSM in July 2015. She currently studies with Robert Manasse. In 2014 Eleanor was Principal Second Flute in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain, performing in venues such as St John’s Smith Square, Oxford Town Hall, and the Duke’s Hall, Royal Academy of Music. She has participated in masterclasses with Michael Cox, Samuel Coles, Katherine Bryan, Nicholas Daniel, and Natalie Clein. Eleanor also plays the piano and harp, and since studying in Oxford, has developed an immense passion for choral music. She loves singing as a Soprano Choral Scholar in the Chapel Choir of St Peter’s College, Polyhymnia, and The Arcadian Singers of Oxford. Recent highlights include singing in the Royal Festival Hall for The Bach Choir’s annual performance of the Bach St Matthew Passion, singing Spem in Alium in Christ Church Cathedral with Andrew Carwood and The Cardinall’s Musick, and performing Faure’s Requiem under Jeremy Summerly with the Chapel Choir of St Peter’s College. Eleanor studies singing with Daniel Norman.
