ESSIE

My name is Essie and I am a Bedfordshire based blues/alt rock singer, guitarist and songwriter. I was born in the UK but grew up in Western Australia, which is where my musical journey began. Nominated for a Western Australian Music (WAM) Songwriting Competition award at just age 11, I went on to continue to pursue my love of music throughout high school and beyond into university. Already an accomplished guitarist and singer, I went on to study a Bachelor of Popular Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2012 and played gigs across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Perth. I released my debut EP ‘Run Red’ in 2013, and a single ‘Sugar Rush’ in 2014. In 2015 I relocated to London and began playing across the capital, going on to release my second EP ’Not Easy’ in 2016, as well as singles ‘Someone’ in 2017 and ‘All of This’ in 2018. Throughout this time I also played a number of weddings, events, and parties with covers sets of hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, 00’s as well as current charts. In 2020 during the pandemic I studied a Masters of Songwriting at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, and graduated with distinction in 2021. In 2022 I flew to Nashville and recorded my latest single ‘Limitless’, released in January 2023, as well as working in London on my upcoming single ‘Big Cities’, set to be released this summer. Music is my life and my passion, and I love performing for an audience in whatever setting that may be. Although I am an accomplished songwriter of original music, I love playing covers for crowds as well, and having everyone singing along to their favourite hits. For me, music is about connection and community, and I try to make sure everyone leaves my gigs smiling. Oh, and when I say I sing, I mean I SING. Don’t believe me?
