Dominic Mackie

Dominic Mackie is an experienced musician based in Guildford, Surrey. Dominic has always held a passion for music and after years many singing in choirs, learning piano and cello he started playing guitar aged 13. Having studied GCSE Music at Esher C of E High School, he went on to achieve a triple distinction BTEC national diploma in Music at The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology before continuing his studies at the Academy of Contemporary Music, gaining a Certificate of Higher Education in Contemporary Music Performance with Merit, and a first-class BMus (Hons) degree in Professional Music Performance majoring on guitar. Dominic’s earliest guitar influences were blues and rock guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Doyle Bramhall II and Phil Manzanera and, in more recent years, folk and roots musicians such as Nic Jones, Martin Carthy and Richard Thompson. Dominic brings his diverse musicality to his own performance for which he has gained considerable experience performing and recording with function and ceilidh bands, tribute acts and supporting other artists. Dominic is the lead guitarist and vocalist for the function band Badgers… Lots of Them, for which he produces arrangements and band parts for drums, bass, keyboards and vocals and guitar. Away from function work and recording, he performs in music theatre pit ensembles for theatrical productions in theatres and venues across the South East and London, as well as short touring productions to The Minack Theatre in Cornwall and the Shaftesbury Theatre in Dawlish. Dominic has worked on: Treasure Island, Big Fish: The Musical, Bugsy Malone, Bad Girls, The Wedding Singer, Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, You’ll Never Walk Alone, Me and My Girl, Return to the Forbidden Planet, Made in Dagenham, The Railway Children, Curtains, The Clockmaker’s Daughter and Rent. Through his theatre work Dominic has also learnt to play bass guitar, mandolin and banjo.
