Dead Writers are as striking and intriguing as their name suggests. Based in London, theirs is an ambitious sound defined by layers of dynamic guitars, anthem choruses and compelling vocals.
The band’s heady fusion of musical influences draws on the melodic brilliance of Queen, the mystical roar of Led Zeppelin, the glassy melancholy of The Cure and the dark swagger of The Cult. Their lyrics are characterised by literary references and audacious poetic images with an obscure yet approachable appeal.
Originally formed in 2017 by frontman/songwriter Paul Shine, Dead Writers are an explosive 5-piece who are fast building a reputation for themselves in the capital’s rock music scene, due in no small part to their arresting live performances.Established as resident recording artists at Hermitage Works Studios, the band published their official debut single ‘Medusa’ in June 2018, which received very positive reviews and was followed up by the potent track ‘Echoes In The Sun’ (October 2018). Their third single ‘She’s All The Animals’, featuring Ben Ellis (from Iggy Pop's band) is planned to be released at the beginning of 2019. They also host their own live music night in London, ‘Best Of All Worlds’, an increasingly successful event where they share the stage with a carefully curated collection of local acts they know and love.
Dead Writers have been featured on several online publications (Down The Front Media, Original Rock, London Music Hall, The Rockpit Australia) and their music has been played recently on Rock Radio UK, Deal Radio and Wandsworth Radio.
