Daniel graduated from Leeds College of Music studying his Bachelors degree in Classical flute and will be returning to the conservatoire to continue his studies in MA Classical - Modern and Historical Performance. Daniel is a flautist within the United Kingdom, based in West Yorkshire, working as a performer and music tutor both privately and within local music services and also works as Choir Matron at Bradford Cathedral. Before attending Leeds College of Music (LCoM) Daniel previously studied with Brian Stewart at the Centre For Advanced training (CAT) at Sage Gateshead since the age of 12. The CAT is based on training some of the best young musicians in the UK, many members of the CAT have gone onto study at various conservatoires and begin hugely successful musical careers. During his time at the CAT Daniel studied with many members of Royal Northern Sinfonia including, Eilidh Gillespie and Marion Craig as well as a yearly Masterclass with Principal flautist Julliet Bausor, now Principal flute of London Philharmonic. Daniel continued his studies at LCoM under tutorage of Dr Martyn Shaw and Karen De Fleyt, and was awarded a Scholarship during his final year of studies. Daniel is returning to LCoM to begin his Masters degree focusing upon Modern and Historical Performance Practice. As a teacher Daniel works both privately and within local music services, including Roundhay Music Service and Calderdale Music Trust. Daniel has also undergone observations with assessors that reviewed him as an excellent tutor with a thoroughly professional and personable manner, showing thorough understanding of technique and theory, providing regular encouragement with a good balance of fun and seriousness to lessons, creating a distinctively positive environment with excellent interaction between Daniel and the pupils who always knew what they should be doing, how and why. Daniel has performed across the UK and toured Germany with many musicians and ensembles performing as Principal flute of Yorkshire Symphony orchestra, LCoM Chamber Orchestra and LCoM Wind Orchestra. Notable recital venues include Sage Gateshead, The Venue Leeds, Leeds Minster, Regent Hall London, Lit and Phil Newcastle, Sunderland Minster, Helmsley Arts Centre and Temple Newsam in collaboration with the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Daniel has also performed on local TV and radio stations and has performed with some of the leading musicians within the country including conductor Natalia Luis-Bassa. Daniel was awarded first place in the Mrs Sunderland Festival - open woodwind class and was subsequently invited to perform in a concert at Huddersfield Town Hall. Daniel is also a recipient of the Wolfson Foundation scholarship and EMI Music Sound Foundation.
