Verified profile

Following a music degree in classical music, Colette began her professional career touring with theatre shows across the world. This involved singing in venues varying from 10,000 seater arenas to intimate cabaret style clubs. Colette has been based in South Manchester since 2014 and regularly performs as soloist with musicians from the Hallé and BBC Philharmonic orchestras. As a soloist, she also frequently performs her Nostalgic Sing a Long shows for less able audiences in the region and is hired for weddings, parties and other special occasion. These events showcase Colette's versatility as a classical singer but also as a singer of jazz, swing and vintage pop music. Colette also regularly sings with a small choral ensemble at various weddings and events, and also appears with a jazz band, Swing Through.

We have Colette singing at our Young At Heart club at least once a month; she is fantastic. The ladies and gentlemen always have a lovely afternoon with her and they all join in as she brings song sheets. She also talks about history of music which they love and she sings some beautiful classical songs which has had some of the ladies in tears, they loved it so much. She gets a +10 every time she visits us. Outstanding.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If I can adapt to your changes, I will. I would always try to keep my commitment to you.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I can provide music through my iPod and PA although I am not a DJ.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually allow a minimum of 30minutes to set up the equipment. Occasionally set up can take longer, for example, if the car park is a fair way from the set up spot. But once set up I can provide a free playlist service to create atmosphere.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I absolutely encourage people to be pro active in choosing particular pieces or styles they want, as long as I am given a few days notice so I can put it all together before the event. I am experienced at putting sets together so as long as I have a rough idea of what you're looking for, I'm confident that together we can find the perfect music.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I only require reasonably easy access to a plug socket.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes. The set list on my profile is not an exhaustive list of everything I can perform. I do ask that I'm given as much notice as possible of requests, especially if I'm using backing tracks so that I can source the best track and learn the song. The cost of this can vary but would be around £5/song.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I am told that I come across as professional in every way- punctual, reliable, friendly, committed, as well as providing an excellent quality of music.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

In my theatre touring days I performed in arenas, ice rinks and theatres across the world, (Zurich, Calgary, Melbourne, Jo'burg, Birmingham) I also sang in an outdoor performance of a show in London's Hyde Park. More recently, I have performed in Manchester's Bridgewater Hall and Stoller Hall, Altrincham Market House, Tabley House in Knutsford.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Listening to lyrics of songs by Billy Joel and George Michael makes me conscious of conveying a text or story to an audience. I love the early musical theatre composers like Gershwin and Porter. Jazz singer, Jane Monheit, is a huge inspiration when it came to learning how to sing jazz.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Probably the show in London's Hyde park. It was a performance of Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance and I had just just been taken on as their singer. I loved working with all the dancers and being part of something which so many people loved and were excited by.
