Clara began her musical training aged 8 as a chorister at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh. Having studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama - trumpet with Paul Beniston and harp with Anneke Hodnett, Clara is passionate about music in all its forms. Before leaving school she was awarded the Lord Clyde Memorial prize in harp and the Elizabeth J Ehrlich award in singing. ‘Sacred bones’, for which Clara is the Cornettist, recently won the Brian Nisbet Memorial Prize. Clara is due to be awarded the Sheriff’s Prize when she graduates in November. Driven to share music with all areas of the community, Clara has participated in many projects including working with Live Music Now and musicians from Academy of St Martin in the Fields at the West London Day Centre, leading workshops for vulnerable people. In addition to more traditional performances, Clara enjoys collaborative work and has performed with The New Theatre Company/American Drama Group (TNT/ADG), at the London Contemporary Dance School, International Book Festival, National Museum of Scotland, and, more recently, has taken part in a project with artistic duo ‘Walker and Bromwich’ at the Rosekilde Festival, Denmark. Clara is looking forward to upcoming projects with big band ‘The Old Fountain Jazz Orchestra’ as well as her brass ensemble ‘Carnyx Brass’
