Ciara Jackson read music at the Queen’s University, Belfast, recently graduating with a First Class Honours in July 2017. During her time at Queen’s, Ciara has enjoyed tutoring from the prestigious Jennifer Sturgeon and Libby Bennett of the Ulster Orchestra. Here she spent three years as flautist of the University Symphony Orchestra, as well as successfully gaining extensive performance experience in both a solo and smaller ensemble context, such as the CoMA music group. Ciara is currently continuing her studies through a Masters in Performance at the University of York. Here she has focused on early music with Edwina Smyth, under the direction of Peter Seymour. Ciara has performed a range of music with the University Symphony Orchestra during her time at York, as well as developing her interest in contemporary classical music through regular performances with the Chimera Ensemble. Ciara currently plays in a Irish Traditional Folk Duo, compromising of flute/whistles and guitar/bodhran.
