About Christine Kammerer

Singer, pianist and lyreplayer. Performing at events and festivals for 7 years.
Singing pianist
Glasgow

Christine Kammerer is an internationally known singer and songwriter and composer who is also lead singer, lyre player, and co-founder of the bands Gjaldulei and Jotun Revolution. She has performed internationally for 6 years and even for Her Majesty Margrethe II Queen of Denmark. Kammerer’s original music is a crossover between singer/songwriter and a fusion of the Nordic and Celtic folk music soundscapes, with a distinctive cinematic and symphonic character to it. Together with her hypnotic, melodic and sonorous voice she draws the listener into a textual universe, which moves from the tales of human nature and sociopolitical issues – as on her EP "Growing Pains" – to the mythological and magical elements of folklore – as in her work with Jotun Revolution. At times quiet and storytelling, inviting her audience to contemplate and immerse themselves in the universe the music opens. At times picturesque, hypnotic, and grandiose, creating a magical journey through tales and time. One of Christine Kammerer's specialities is her concert: “A Voice of North”. A concert of compositions which move in the crossover between Nordic and Celtic folk mixed with symphonic/classical elements. Creating musical tales in which I take you through the folkloric landscape of the Nordic countries. Besides my own compositions I will also perform some of the music of both Scotland and Scandinavia, which have inspired my musical journey. Besides performing with song, piano and guitar I will also be performing on the Viking harp instrument: the replica of a Sutton Hoo lyre. EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND Throughout the past 7 years she has performed at markets, castles, concert halls, festivals and venues Denmark, the UK, Germany and USA. Some of Kammerer’s collaborations are with: Kronborg Castle, Mathilde Falch, Kjell Braaten, Bethesda Nordic, the Scottish Crannog Centre, UNESCO RILA / University of Glasgow, Ledreborg Castle, Land of Legends and several municipalities in Denmark. With her band Gjaldulei she performed for Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II, at the opening of the exhibition "Togtet" at the National Museum of Denmark. In 2021 Kammerer’s song Eversong was among the finalists in World Songwriting Awards.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always strive to meet my clients needs the best, and understand that timings can change when planning an event. If the timings change slightly on the day, please let me know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I would be happy to talk about creating a playlist which I could put on before and after my sets, and in the break. I want to help you create the best atmosphere possible for your event.

How much time do you need to set up?

My setup time depends on if there is a PA available at the venue or if I need to set up my own. It is usually between 30 minutes-1 hour including sound check.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes of course, as long as the piano is working and in tune, then I am happy to play on it!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

My setlist consists of songs I have performed live throughout the past 5 years, but I very quick at learning new material, and I constantly update my setlist and welcome ideas for new songs. Should you have any requests I am happy to talk about how I can structure a repertoire that fits your event.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes I am, I can bring my own piano, guitar or lyre.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Even if a song is not included in my setlist, there may be a chance that I already know it. Should you have a song or more that you would like me to play, I am happy to make that work. If many of them are new to me, there might be an additional fee for extra rehearsal time, but we will figure all that out before we make a final deal.
