Caroline Waters was born in Jersey and began violin lessons at the age of 7. With the help of a musical benefactor, Caroline continued her studies from the age of 14 in Manchester at Chetham’s School of Music. Continuing at the Royal Northern College of Music, she studied with Richard Deakin; throughout her time in Manchester she enjoyed opportunities to lead orchestras and perform chamber music. Since moving to Bedfordshire Caroline has divided her time between performance work and teaching violin and viola. She has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and also regularly plays with a number of orchestras, leading Bedford Sinfonia and Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra. Caroline has also enjoyed working with the London-based, King’s Chamber Orchestra; she has played on tours in Italy, Germany, France and the Channel Islands. As well as enjoying a wide range of musical styles, Caroline has a real love of improvisation in Christian worship. She plays a violin made for her in 2002 by Tomáš Pilaŕ.

Dear Caroline, Emily, and Luke, Many thanks for the card, and more importantly for your lovely playing at our 25/70 Celebration. It really added to the atmosphere and everyone seems to have mentioned to me how much they enjoyed it. I think we were slightly disadvantaged by being Table 1 at the end of the room, in terms of sound, but we still had fun identifying some tunes and singing (poorly) along to the melodies. So many thanks again for contributing so much to our lovely party and celebrations. Kind Regards Joy & Peter.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

I play as a soloist as well as being part of a flexible ensemble who work as a string quartet, trio or duo. We are also able to provide you with a violin and piano duo and even an organist if required! (our cellist is multi-skilled!)

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If your timings change after a booking I will do my very best to accommodate you. Payment for extra time can be easily be organised. I always try my best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know.

How much time do you need to set up?

As my violin is an acoustic instrument I require minimum time for set up. However we like to arrive between 30 mins -1 hr before the event to ensure I am ready and and relaxed.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

As with the The Element String Quartet, Trio and Duo I am happy to play pieces from the set list. Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure you and your guests are relaxed and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, absolutely! I bring my own instrument to play acoustically.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I am very happy to play a request that is not on my list.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients have said they like my friendly, professional approach from the moment they contact me until the end of the booking. I recommend you read my/our reviews if you have a moment.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed at Keech Hospice Care for a celebratory event attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Other venues include - Hengrave Hall, Dodford Manor, Bassemead Barns, Brocket Hall, Waddesdon Manor, Woburn Picture Gallery, Castle Headington, The Barns - Bedford. The Swan hotel-Bedford, Whittlebury Hall. South Farm -Shingay-cum-Wendy...many more!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I have been influenced by so many over the years. Listening to a wide range of music has made me realise that as a soloist and as an ensemble I can play classical music and so much more. Listening and learning from my own professor at the music conservatoire (RNCM) where I studied has probably been my greatest influence overall!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

On Tuesday 7/11/17 I was privileged enough to be able to perform for the Balfour 100 celebration.
