Carly Stubbs

I’ve been performing on stage my whole life but my live band experience started 16 years ago when I spent 5 years working all over the UK as a backing vocalist for the UK’s biggest Phil Collins and Genesis tribute band. Before and during that time I was also session singing for a studio in London writing and recording dance and R&B music. I then sang backing vocals and fronted a couple of original Brit rock pop bands and started singing covers for functions. My style of singing changed quite dramatically and I realised I loved singing acoustically in a more stripped back alternative folk style. I’ve been writing and performing in my original acoustic duo Pipe and Tabor for 6 years now, we’ve supported Joan Armatrading on several occasions as well as top acoustic guitar artists Thomas Leeb and Jon Gomm. Aside from the original music I sing in 2 acoustic cover duos, The Elephant in the Room (a side line of pipe and tabor, me and dean on acoustic guitar) and Joanie loves Chachi, again myself on vocal but with Johnny Stubbs on on backing vox and acoustic guitar. Both set ups play stripped back versions of bigger songs as well as covering laid back acoustic songs. We try and steer away from the usual cheesy DJ wedding songs and carefully pick out songs you don’t hear everyday, sometimes songs people have forgotten how much they love. Really proud of these duos, we offer something different and the feedback is always superb. I continue to provide backing vocals for individual projects where an artist or band requires something extra on their recordings. I also run after school confidence building group singing classes for children called Sing For Fun where throw out the text books and focus purely on our mutual love of singing. I was classicly trained relatively young but all my experience comes from performing live and working in the studio setting.
