Bethany is a flautist and pianist currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance studying the flute with Margaret Campbell and the Piccolo with Christopher Green. Her piano studies are continued externally with Fred Scott in South London. The peak of Bethany's early music education was during her A-levels where she attended Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Junior Department every week. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there studying the flute with Nicolas Bricht, Caroline Li and the piano with Alexander Boyd. Alongside this, she was Principal Flute of Surrey County Youth Orchestra. This included playing many works by the likes of Brahms, Shostakovich, Arnold, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Smetena and many more. With SCYO, she performed at The Royal Albert Hall to premier the opera ‘The Freedom Game’. Whilst studying at Trinity Laban, she have also taken part in many masterclasses and workshops with a number of profound flautists. This includes Adam Walker, Wissam Boustany, Siobhan Grealy, Sameeta Gahir, Margaret Campbell, Anna Noakes and Elizabeth Walker. Locations that Bethany has performed at representing Trinity Laban include Blackheath Halls, the Spitalfields Music Festival and The Chapel at the Old Royal Naval College. In Summer 2018, Bethany toured with the King's College Symphony Orchestra to Barcelona where they played a number of concerts during their time in Spain. Bethany currently has over 30 flute and piano pupils that she sees regularly in Surrey. Many of whom are hoping to study Music at University or a Music Conservatoire. She thoroughly enjoys organising and preparing them for concerts and events. As well as teaching and studying, Bethany thoroughly enjoys playing music in Hospitals. The main hospitals she has performed to patients, visitors and staff are the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Lewisham Hospital.

Bethany Norman is a highly motivated, expert and effective performer with an ease of technique that belies the difficulties of the music she is playing. In any project I have worked on with her she has always shown great personability, reliability and knows the importance of finding exactly the right style and tone for the music, whatever the genre; this kind of wide-ranging adaptability is a rare skill! I can wholeheartedly recommend Bethany as both soloist and ensemble player.

We asked Bethany to perform at a Private Dinner Party, in a City Livery Hall, for a well known and respected Livery Company. The audience was 40 and they definitely showed their appreciation. They very much enjoyed the mixed programme of classical and modern pieces. It was a special evening and after the event many guests came up to Bethany to thank her for making the evening such a special one for them.
