About Antonia

Violinist Solo / Ensemble / Orchestra musician Session / Studio musician
Violinist
Llandudno Junction
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Born and raised in a post-soviet and newly independent country, Antonia later will never stop travelling. Debuting at the age of 3 on a big TV production stage, she pursued her performance career. She received classical performance training, but her love for improvisation didn’t leave her a stranger to other styles of music. She is known for her acoustic violin sound experiments in Jazz, Pop, Rock, Country and even Heavy Metal. Such versatility provided her with an opportunity to collaborate with a number of bands around the World and to be featured as a recording artist on more than 10 CDs. Antonia is working on her solo album, which is still in progress due to her constantly evolving nature and busy schedule. The best to describe Antonia’s sound is to collide Stephanne Grappelly’s groove with a ‘human-voice-like’ folky tone topping it up with a little rustic finish. It has enough character to be compared to a female gipsy vocalist. Her sound is unique and strong for solo performance, as well as distinct and with condensed enough texture to perform in a big band. Antonia has several instruments, but her first choice is her concert violin -laud to overpower the orchestra sound yet with a soft and sustained tone for those chamber music moments. Antonia will take you on a vibrant journey with her imagination, like a griot or a storyteller. Her travel experience and love for folklore help her relate to an audience worldwide. While performing, she can affect people by bringing their emotions to the surface. Her intuitive nature is able to follow the shape of a musical idea creating perfect shades and outbursts of colour. Such an expression wouldn’t leave anybody spiritless after her performance.
