Anna Vienna is a Birmingham-based Pianist, Soprano, Composer from Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong-born pianist, Anna Vienna Ho, received her Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Birmingham Conservatoire(distinction), under the tutelage of Anthony Hewitt and Margaret Fingerhut, with the supported by the Conservatoire International Students Scholarship. She was also awarded the Malcolm John Bullock Memorial Trust Award and Birmingham Conservatoire Association Award. Prior to that, she gained her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in piano. She was awarded the Hong Kong Government Talent Development Scholarship in two consecutive years. As a pianist, Anna Vienna has given solo recitals and performed in many concerts in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. This year, she has performed in the Festival Parisien Piano Concert and Piano All-nighter Concert, in Birmingham Town Hall. Besides performing as a solo pianist, Anna Vienna is also an experienced collaborative pianist who has performed in varies chamber recitals and collaborated with many choirs and orchestras. She has also performed as a vocal accompanist in “Music Sensation”, “No Vocalist Allowed”, Carrs Lane Church Concert Series and other recitals. Anna Vienna has won numerous prizes in both local and international piano competitions. She was the prize winner of the International Robert Schumann Klavier Welttbert, 3rd Internationaler Deutscher Irmler-Klavierwettbewerb, Schumann International Youth Piano Competition, Mid-Somerset Festival, North London Music Festival, London Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition and more. Recently, she won the 1st prize of the Instrumental solo in the Abergavenny Eisteddfod Y Fenni and performed at the Borough Theatre; the Theodore Dodds Memorial Cup and the Dame Myra Hess Trophy in the Leamington Spa Competitive Festival. Anna Vienna has also performed actively as a vocalist. She has studied voice with Cheng Yuk Man and is currently receiving the guidance of Helen Field. She was chosen as the soprano solo in Britten's A Ceremony of Carols and performed the work with the HKBU Choir. Passionate about opera, Anna Vienna has participated in different opera performances, including Puccini's La bohème, Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Bizet’s Carmen, Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, Leoncavallo's Pagliacci and Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. She was a chorus member in the Andrea Bocelli Asia Tour with Passione 2013. In Oct 2015, She won the first prize of the Soprano Solo Open(Mollie Mellor Trophy) and the Top Prize of the Final (Mabel Whitely Rose Bowl) in Holmfirth Musical Festival. In March 2017, she won the first prize of the Operatic Solo(Neale Harrison Trophy), Oratorio Solo(Newcastle Music Festival Trophy), Lieder Solo(G A Salmon Trophy) and Vocal Challenge Solo(Dorothy Jones Memorial Trophy) in Newcastle-U-Lyme Festival of Music. Recently, she won the first prize of the Musical Comedy or Light Opera (Lake City Cup) and Traditional Folk Song Solo (John Wynne Porter Trophy) in Leamington Spa Competitive Festival. Anna Vienna has started her interest in composition since she studied in HKBU. Her compositions include piano, vocal, chamber works, which were premiered in the Hong Kong and UK by various musicians. In 2014, she was chosen as one of the finalists in the New Generation 2014 and premiered her String Quartet "The Forester" in the New Generation Concert at RTHK Studio One and was broadcast on RTHK Radio 4. Her art song "Gefrorne Tränen" was premiered in the HKBU Student Composition Showcase. In 2016, her song cycle "Impression of life", two Italian songs "Non posso disperar" and "Aprile" were premiered at Weoley Hill United Reformed Church, Birmingham, UK. In March 2017, her piano solo piece “Images” was awarded NADFAS Trophy in Newcastle-U-Lyme Festival of Music.
