Born in London to Greek Cypriot parents, Drou embraces and celebrates this duality in her musical style and vocal agility, as a multi-lingual performer. Drou's passion for languages enables her to effortlessly transition between lyrical styles in English, Greek, French and Spanish. Her soulful resonating sound as an Anglo/Middle Eastern jazz singer, delivers a magical melange of Eastern harmonics and western musical accompaniments, which appeals to audiences with a wider appreciation for sumptuous Jazz Classics in addition to an eclectic fusion of jazz interpretations. Drou’s musical journey began at the age of 16, representing Cyprus in The Eurovision Song Contest. Since then Drou was establishing herself as a passionate performer, backing vocalist and songwriter in English, Greek and French. Drou will showcase her diversity as an artist and her unique approach to songs old and new. Drou brings sophistication and elegance in attention to personal appearance which together with her passionate deliver invokes that all encompassing Jazz look and sound of a bygone era of Jazz Queens. Drou is one of the resident Artists at the new London hotspot for live Jazz at The Hampstead Jazz Club and regularly performs to sold-out audiences. Aswell as singing some of the great favourites from the silver screen and celebrating the great ladies of Jazz, Drou adds her own lyrical and musical twist and flavour to every performance which always elevates the overall audience experience and satisfaction. Drou brings her own style to the favourites from The American Songbook, Burt Bacharach nd more recent artists including songs by Amy Winehouse, George Michael and others. Recent collaborations have given Drou the opportunity to record some jazz greats with a Greek/Eastern influence, leading to an exciting addition to the world of jazz, making this an interesting project giving the audience a new musical experience in the genre of Ethno-jazz.

Drou The Jazz Singer, an artist that belongs to another bygone era. Immense charisma that takes you back to yesteryear in a time when lyrics could be understood and sonnets were sung . Timeless talent married with charming confidence .

A delightful evening spent in the cosiest of venues. Drou is the presiding genius whose energy and vision brings a fresh approach to Jazz at The Hampstead Jazz Club, and who aims to sustain its popularity and prosperity. Drou is a talented performer in her own right, and was the star attraction on April 7th, ably supported by Alex (bass) and Ollie (piano). The trio took us through a catalogue of modern and jazz favourites. Drou’s USP is to infuse well-known melodies with her native Greek harmonies and styling. This was seen to best effect in When I was Seventeen, elevating it above the saccharine. Drou, recognising that performance is a shared art, has a gift for involving the audience, her eyes and smiles scanning the tables, imploring us to delve with her into the emotions of each song. Her honeyed voice, notably smooth in its alto register, is the ideal complement to her performance style. Further visits already in the pipeline.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I like to work closely with clients to try and assist in all areas. I offer some flexibility and if timings change more often than not, I am able to accommodate this where possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

As a singer I am usually booked to provide these services and my clients to date have organised this service independently to mine. However, if I am singing with backing tracks through a PA system I am flexible to discuss options at provide this extra service as an additional cost.

How much time do you need to set up?

It is preferable to set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before a scheduled performance time.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My repetoire is usually reflective of the type/style of event and as the objective is to provide the best experience for the client and the audience, I am happy to discuss this in advance.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I usually perform at events which have a PA in place. However, I am willing to discuss bringing my own equipment which may be subject to an additional cost to cover hire fees as I usually play with live musicians who will of course bring their own instruments/equipment.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

As my aim is to make each and every client's event a special and memorable one, I understand that at times there are special requests for songs. If it is a song I will have to learn there is a fee of £30.00 per song to take into account rehearsal time etc.
