Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
Reading the room, and requests. The feedback that comes back most often is that I play what the room actually wants rather than working through a fixed set, and that if someone asks for something, it gets played. The other one is that the energy holds — people stay up rather than drifting back to their seats.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Three years of residencies in Dubai, including the Waldorf Astoria and Lock Stock and Barrel, plus the 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. More recently, a summer residency at the Circus Bar on Ios, and a run of nights at Mead Open Farm in Bedfordshire. Alongside those, UK weddings, hotels and private events.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
The Beatles first, for the songwriting — and Hendrix for what a guitar can do on its own. Beyond that, Stereophonics, Oasis and Coldplay shape most of what I play, and there's a soul streak underneath it from Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers. My own writing sits somewhere between alt-rock and indie.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
The 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, on a bill that also featured Sam Smith and Guns N' Roses. Aside from that, after-show performances for Coldplay and Kings of Leon, and a TimeOut Dubai Best Bar Band award in 2019 during the Lock Stock and Barrel residency.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
Not a problem — timings shift on the day at almost every event. Tell me as soon as you know and I'll rework my set times around the new running order. If the change pushes the finish significantly later or adds hours, I'll tell you upfront whether it affects the fee rather than surprising you afterwards.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
Yes. Background music runs through my PA before I start and between sets, so the room never falls silent. Send me a playlist in advance, hand me one on the night, or leave the choice to me. There's no extra charge for it.
How much time do you need to set up?
Around 45 minutes for a standard solo setup — PA, instruments, and a proper soundcheck. Allow an hour if access is awkward, there are stairs, or the load-in is a long way from where I'm playing. I'd rather arrive early and wait than rush it while your guests are arriving.
Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?
Yes. Send me the songs you want in and, just as usefully, the ones you want kept out. I'll build the set around them and place the quieter songs where they'll land best. If something isn't on my list, tell me early and I'll say honestly whether I can have it ready for the date.
Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?
For UK bookings, yes — PA, microphones, instruments and cabling all come with me, so there's nothing for you to arrange. Overseas bookings are the exception: I travel with instruments but ask the venue to provide PA and sound equipment, as flying a full rig out rarely makes sense.
Can you learn specific pieces before the event?
Yes, and I do it regularly — first dances especially. Send me the track and I'll tell you quickly whether it works solo. Six to eight weeks' notice is ideal for a bespoke arrangement. Some songs lean hard on a full band, and where that's true I'll say so rather than deliver a weak version.
