Alex is a Midlands-based pianist who had a keen musical ear from an early age. He first took piano lessons at the age of 7 and got his first accompanying job at the age of 16. He went on to complete a degree in Music at the Reid School of Music at the University of Edinburgh, taking piano lessons from Karin Schistek. Whilst studying here, he enjoyed performing with a variety of soloists and ensembles alike. A specialist composer, he also has had a number of original pieces and arrangements performed across the country. Alex now works with a wide variety of groups, including choirs and musical theatre companies. He owns all the necessary equipment to produce a professional standard performance and is happy to play for your show or concert.

Alex has been amazing throughout the entire process - from our initial video call, the string of personal requests made, Alex put together a 25 minute preview video where he brought our requests to life With our d and d wedding theme on the day he arrived in great time, had no issue relocating between 2 rooms that we had set up andour guest's loved his playing during our drinks reception His playing for our ceremony was exactly how we envisioned it and he knew some of our more geeky and niche requests which only affirmed to us that we had chosen the perfect musician to bring our vision and tavern to life!

I would just like to put on record my appreciation for input into making a success of my 75th Birthday Celebration Party at the Nottingham Cosy Club. From our initial discussion and follow up sessions by e-mail you were able to assist me in the choices of music and styles that you could offer. I was particularly impressed with the video of proposed tunes that you sent over to me. In relation to the event itself you arrived early, set up and were ready to perform well in advance of the first guests coming into the venue. During the course of the evening you played our agreed choices and the guests were delighted as it added greatly to the ambience of the occasion. In relation to booking your system is simple and your terms and conditions were not complicated. Finally let me say I would be happy to use you again and recommend you to others requiring your services.

It was such a pleasure that Alex could play for us at our wedding at Cockcliffe Country House. Alex is the utmost professional and the music he played at our wedding really complimented the day. He even learnt a few songs for us which I believe wasn't in his repertoire. We would have no trouble in recommending Alex for any occasion. The day goes so quick and I can only really remember snippets of the day, but the music Alex played for us during the ceremony really stands out for us.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I have been praised for my excellent sight-reading and adaptability to direction change. I have strong sense of pulse which helps playing as part of an ensemble.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed in many theatres, both small and large. The majority of my concerts have taken place in churches, again ranging from village churches to large cathedrals.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I most enjoy playing works by Ludovico Einaudi and Giovanni Allevi, and have played their pieces since my teenage years. I also enjoy the jazz works of Gordon Goodwin and Oscar Peterson, and the orchestral works of Shostakovich and Holst.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The largest theatre I have performed in was the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. The largest church was Wells Cathedral.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I can do my best to accommodate any schedule changes where possible if you get in touch with me at the earliest convenience.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

If you would like music to be played from a streaming service before or between my sets, please contact me beforehand and we can arrange this in coordination with the venue.

How much time do you need to set up?

If playing a keyboard part for a show, I usually require up to 30 minutes prior to the event to set up equipment. This may be shorter in practice, I only allow this long in case of technical or logistical errors. I always test my equipment before travelling to shows.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

If anything from my set lists takes your fancy, please feel free to get in touch and request them specifically.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

If playing a keyboard part in a show, I possess all equipment necessary to perform to the highest standard. If playing a piano, it would be preferable to play one already existing at a venue. If this is not possible however, I am able to bring my own keyboard equipment to play on.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Absolutely! If you have any requests at all I can certainly do my best to work it into my repertoire for your event.
