Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to be sure your event runs as well as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event, please just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, absolutely, there is a really popular request and we offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up and sound check if possible about 1 or 1.5 hours before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set lists are crafted from many performances and learning what works best to ensure guests have the right feel for background music or dance as required and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through, take some requests and make sure we find what works for your event. ”

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, definitely, I provide the PA, and microphones as required.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there is a chance I/ we may already know it. We are used to requests and can often accommodate them, especially if they in a similar genre. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. (There may be a fee of £30 for this to take into account rehearsal times etc.)

At last Opus One Swing Dance Club managed to persuade Airlie Scott’s Pronto Swing to come and play for dancers at our Central London venue. From their first chord to the last note the band's joyful interpretations of the American Songbook, classic Swing numbers and other dancers favourites, as well as the title track from their latest CD - "Everybody wants to be a cat", filled the dancefloor with appreciative Lindy Hoppers and Swing dancers - young and old, new and seasoned. The upbeat energy of the musicians enhanced by the warm and assured vocal style of Airlie Scott set the hall alight! We had to let them run over time to prevent a riot! We have promised the dancers that we’ll have Pronto Swing back at the earliest opportunity (which we were planning to do anyway). What an evening! It will go down in the annals of history as one of the best nights spent out on the town!
