Customer questions

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

As a busy jazz band, we have a strong group of musicians available to dep in for gigs. We have a collection of pre-auditioned and selected dep musicians in case a band member is unavailable, and if this is the case, footage will be shared with our clients so they can see (and hear) who will be arriving at their gig.

Do you have different line-up options?

We have many different options. We can range from a quartet (trumpet/guitar/bass/kit) for background sets, and for more upbeat sets we usually bring in a singer, saxophonist and trombonist. Whatever you want, we can deliver! Prices will vary depending on the ensemble size required.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We're all only human. We are very flexible (and very understanding!). If timings change after a booking, we can work towards it to make sure your event runs smoothly.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. Playlists can be made and played to suit your requirements.

How much time do you need to set up?

A quick load in can be roughly 20-30 minutes. It is usually good to have our kit set up before guests arrive, as it looks smoother that way!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely! We take requests, and there may be an additional fee if they are songs we haven't played before. This can all be discussed prior to the gig.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA is included, however we don't have our own lighting equipment. In previous experience, this has never been a problem! The lighting in venues has usually been very flattering for jazz gigs, however if additional lighting is requested, an additional lighting hire fee will be added, but always discussed beforehand.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Absolutely! Depending on the song, the price will vary to take into account the arrangement and rehearsal time. This can all be discussed prior to the booking.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our clients love how young and energetic we are. We endeavour to put on a good show visually as well as aurally, with a tight professional sound as well as a sharp young look.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We are a regular band at 'Bungalows and Bears' where we play live events for a dancing crowd as well as background music for corporate events. We have also played at the Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria Hotel and The Hilton in Sheffield, providing background music for corporate meals, and The Devonshire, Coffee Revolution and The Gardeners Rest for jazz nights.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Personally, as a trumpeter, I (Emily) am influenced by Miles Davis. Our sets really range depending on the sort of music you would like for your event though, and we take inspiration from the music we read and the way we connect with each other.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The Institute of Translation and Interpreting conference in Sheffield, 2019. Performed to 600+ guests.

Jazz can be very much an acquired taste - some love it, some loathe it. Upon reading that there would be live jazz at the ITI Conference reception, I was intrigued. As it happened, the live band entertained us with a pleasant, middle-of-road kind of accessible jazz that went well with conversation but was also spirited enough to motivate a colleague to drag me onto an improvised dancefloor. All in all a hugely enjoyable evening at the Bungalows and Bears in Sheffield!
